I don't like it. I would never modify a Mosin or any other C&R

I can understand refinishing the stock. Lots of spares to go around.

Don't know about freefloating the barrel though.

Honestly, the refinish doesn't look bad at all. Looks like a fresh coat of shellac.

I think you did well and kudos on the prick filter, they identified themselves handily, and predictably. hilarious how fast the pitchforks and torches come out the moment you think about doing something to your own property.

Thank you! I honesty don't see what the big deal is with what I did. I made my rifle shoot and function much better because I actually like using my rifles. I left everything as an original part just made some changes that made it a better rifle.

Many C&R collectors consider a re-finish as bubba-ing. I prefer to keep my C&Rs as-is but it's your rifle, do what you will with it.

Oh crap that must be a new rule, lemme seal my rifle up in a pressure vessel and not tough it. The finish on this rifle when i got it was nearly non existant and it was in terrible shape. i should leave it like that and let it rot? This c&r thing is lame with all these rules and bullsh1t. if i cant make my rifle nicer and better to shoot while still keeping it quite original then forget it. Threads getting deleted edit: if I can figure out how. I'm gonna go buy some more nagants and butcher them to my hearts desire.

Not really my cup of tea. I like the military surplus firearms for the history they show. In the stamps, proof marks, and battle scars they have accuired in their life of service. I like'em original and servicable showing all the beauty marks. Thats just the way I see a military surplus firearm in it's best light.

If the OP see's his surplus rifle as something he wants to change then that is his right... he paid for it. To me the stain is a little to RED for my liking.

Like the shrapnel I purposely left in there or the nicks, dings and dents and all the stamps and markings that I left also? And yes I wish the stain had come out much darker but that's how it ended up.

I can show you if you want. From the response it seems that it's not what people
Want to see. I enjoy my rifle so why show it to a buncha of lame *****es who don't wanna see it
