Is a C&R license worth it in Cali?

I've read conflicting stories on a C&R license in California. My question is: If you hold a c&r, can you purchase a c&r firearm from out of state, and have it shipped to your home? I read somewhere that if you live in CA, the firearm had to be shipped to a ffl, regardless of your c&r status. Is this correct?
May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't.

rifles can be sent to your door.

handguns still have to go through a ffl01. you can however, purchase one in person out of state and send a form (forget the name now) and the $19 per handgun fee to ca as soon as you get back into the state.

the discounts with various vendors and manufacturers are easily worth the $30 fee. i've already recouped it many times over. if for nothing else, get a ffl03 for that.

For $30.00 (for three years) you can get your money back in vendor discounts real quick. One firearm purchase will put you "in the black".

Where is a one stop shop for info on getting a C&R?

I need a link that I can click that will make it SIMPLE.

It may only cost $30, but you give up your privacy on C&R purchases by being forced to keep records. The government can also "inspect" your collection up to once a year. I was very close to getting one, but decided that it wasn't worth it to me. There is nothing wrong with getting one, just make sure that you know everything before you make a decision.

Rock river arms National Match trigger at Brownells sells for $122. C&R discount? $75. Made my $30 back right there. Midway has some nice discounts sometimes as well. You can also walk into Big 5 and walk out with a C&R the same day. Still have to pay DROS though

I went with a buddy and all he had to do is leave a signed copy of his FFL and got to walk out with two rifles.

If this was in California, then the FFL just made a big no-no...

Does Brownell's require a copy of the FFL to be sent to them? Or, can I input my FFL# with my order?

I sent Graf & Sons a copy, but never got a reply. So I contacted dealer sales by email and never got a reply. I guess they don't want my business.

Midway on the other hand, set up my dealer account right after they received the FFL. Discounts are hit and miss at Midway... a few cents or a couple bucks here and there, and sometimes none at all. I found one item that was cheaper when you didn't log in as a dealer! I like Midway because of the website allows me to keep a "Wish List"... an evil plan to spend my money. I know not everyone is a fan of Midway.

This is COMPLETELY TRUE. You will just buy more guns, ammo, and peripherals with a C&R. If you want to save money, get rid of all your guns, and you'll never have to worry about buying ammo or accessories ever again.

I read somewhere that if you live in CA, the firearm had to be shipped to a ffl, regardless of your c&r status. Is this correct?
Only for handguns. Rifles and shotguns can be delivered to your door without DROS or 10 day wait from private parties, other collectors, and dealers. I had 7 delivered this way. Way cool.

Defintely worth it! Discounts from Midway, Brownells, Grafs alone are worth it. One purchase (C&R of course) on gunbroker paid for mine. You actually won't save money, you will just have more guns If you want to save money, don't read shotgun news or look at any surplus website
Also you can use it on pistols (out of state), if you carry them back into the state yourself (and fill out some form here).
If you are worried about privacy, get a separate gun safe/cabinet for your C&R guns.

I faxed mine. I don't think they will take the number on an order.
