    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It's not about secrecy...it's about DOJ demanding information which they are not authorized to require.

What other information would you like to voluntarily provide to the State?

Yeah, I think I'll pick a more strategic hill to die on, especially since I can just go around this one by not checking collector.

You're not paying attention. No one has died on this "hill" because there is no hill. DOJ demands, we say, "No," and DOJ folds. It isn't that complicated.

Just renewed mine, checked collector never asked for my 03, only my CDL and needed to reset my password. I was even overdue. Smooth renewal overall

That is good to hear as I just submitted my renewal today and was panicking after coming back here and remembering everyone saying for smoother process to input your FFL 03 though I never saw a box for it .

My COE expires in 70 days. I reset my password, can access CFARS and COE page - can't find where to start the renewal process, no place to click "buy again". Am I not able to until 60 days?

You have to wait for the 60 day window....

Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 11, ? 4037 - Renewal of Certificate

                  a) Completed applications for a COE renewal shall be submitted electronically within 60 days prior to the expiration of the certificate.

They don't open the window until 60 days out.

                      ^^
Thanks. Considering how long it took last year I guess 60 days will have me biting my fingernails by expiration date.

The FFL03 number is not required to be submitted under the regulations and statutes.

If they ask, just reply and request under what authority they ask for that info. State you have provided the required info and ask that they respond to your question within 7 days.

The next response from them will be either an approval or a reminder to upload a copy of your driver's license. Either way, they move quickly once they start asking for FFL number.

@Dvrjon has made an excellent template response if you search on here.

I already uploaded my DL when I submitted my renewal so it should be a pretty simple and smooth process hopefully.

Just did mine, went smooth. I remembered that last time I uploaded a copy of my FFL under "court docs" and it was no issue. Needed or not, beats me.

I usually "celebrate" renewal by buying something. No need to do the CA registration - goes straight up to OR.
