I picked up a Belgian made pre-1968 Browning SA 22 - wheel type rear sight. Gun came with a very much oversized Leupold M8 4x scope, which now sits on a Ruger 77/44. The Browning was missing its front sight but I figured "how hard can it be to replace a dovetail front sight?" .......
All the dovetail type front sights I had at home didn't fit (too small dovetail) and the one I ordered from Numrich (only one they had listed) also too small. Dovetail bottom cut measures .410. So I'm guessing that at some point Browning went from their own special sized to standard.
The dovetail cut is far too much larger than the sight to do a little stippling on the base or tapping down of the top of the dovetail cuts. No way to finesse fit.
Any suggestions on where to find?
