FINALLY RECEIVED! So Begins The Longest Wait: CMP Garands

So I FINALLY placed an order for two field grade Garands. The mail went out today. Website says up to 14 weeks for delivery, so hopefully it makes for a nice Christmas present!

    Wish me luck!

Nice! Too bad the service grade has been sold out so long. Looking at the CMP forums it seems the quality and/or aesthetics has been all over the place. Hopefully you get a better one than some of the rough one's that members were complaining about.

I remember that wait, although it wasn’t quite that long and my two were M1Ds (after I got my first M1C previously).

Probably still one of the best deals going! Just try to put it out of mind and let them surprise you when they show up.

      Merry early Christmas!!!

The main reason I avoid the C&R forum is because it reminds me of the CMP 1917 I purchased back in 2012. It was a beautiful rifle and I lucked out on the selection. Soon after I fell on hard times and had to sell it before I could shoot it and the C&R forums have always put that bitter taste back in my mouth. Hopefully these Garands are as amazing as that 1917 was and I can finally let go of the past!!!

Those of us still residing in CA would simply say, NFWHAT?

M1 Garands remain a bargain, far as I'm concerned. You've got a time-tested semi-automatic battle rifle design, shooting a full-powered cartridge, for less than $1,000? And it probably actually saw battle at some point in service of our country? Yep, sign me up.

The thing you should do now is see about collecting .30-06 brass.

Also, I'd probably suggest getting a new Criterion barrel for each of your rifles, if you're going to actually shoot them. This will definitely help their precision, and new barrels from the CMP are not that expensive. It's also not difficult to install and finish-chamber new barrels on a Garand. I know, 'cause I've done it.

I'm very happy with the service, field, and special rack I've received in the last 6 months. I want to order another field, just because, but must be responsible.

Actually not too much work. I have done a few, but Randall can do it while you wait.

I remember those beautiful blond wood Greek M1 returns that were in unfired condition as well as the HRAs in equally nice condition. Those were the days...

I have 5 M1's all from the CMP: 3 Springfield, 1 H&R, and just recently got a Winchester. The Winchester took 8 months to receive. I should have jumped on the International Harvesters when they were available.

Does this mean the CMP has already gone through the Philippines returns?
