If you're going to email it to them there should be an email address included in the email they sent you. I would send it there to be safe.

Are they asking for a scanned copy of your ID/DL?

I got the DL notice I needed to give them after the 03 FFL last year because I had renewed my CA real ID DL after I got my COE in 2020. Yes the number is the same and my new one just needed to give them updated expiration date.....but why can't they get this info from DMV? Well....they probably do not share that with them, and just like 03 number....I have to keep giving it every year anyways. Again, just put it in right spot in application (yes we all know they should see it in our CFARS Account profile) for both, and voila, it's approved and issued to me relatively fast. Maybe they know it all along and are verifying it....all I know is I don't ask why/question it for either of those (our CLEO knows we have one/applied for it for the 03FFL, and I am sure they could probably access DMV if they really wanted to) so I just give them both year after year and I get an email/ see my updated COE with new updated expiration date.

Do what you think is best for u (including emailing them with info if they offer option to u which they usually do), but regardless do it ASAP and do not wait till last minute ot u might have to deal with expired COE.

The funny thing is the approval must be automatic as soon as they receive the email because I watched mine change to renewed before anyone possibly had time to read it.

That what I figure too....same when I go back and update it in my application. After enough times getting an email saying my application is incomplete and I need to give it to them and then sometimes my CA real ID DL info....I just go in, update it and poof, my application is magically approved and renewed with updated expiration date. Most important thing to them, ur payment goes through right away since it's by card online so u know they got ur money lol

Submitted renewal and payment a day ago.
All I had to do was uploading real ID pic and submit payment.
                  Got confirmation.
                  Now the waiting game begins.

In the past I had to send in my C&R FFL number. Perhaps I missed it in the CFARS renewal but I didn't see a request for the C&R FFL number. So, in addition to the Real ID document I uploaded a copy of my current C&R FFL. Also sent them a separate e-mail with the info requested per opening post of this thread.

Maybe TMI and it confuses the heck out of them.

I think for most people renewing their COE, the most common reason their application is not approved with no issues is the 03FFL number matter. Even if you have given it to them previously in your last renewal (for instance), they keep asking for it, at least for me they did. You would think they'd remember or have it even if it's in your CFARS profile, but alas, gotta keep giving it to them. I just do whatever the email I get from them asks me to do (add it to my renewal app or email it to them), and my renewal application get approves right away. I would say prob best to do one or the other, as both might indeed confuse them. Hopefully it will get approved and renewed for you soon.

Slight twist on mine. The C&R FFL # is in my CFARS profile, but it expired Dec 2021. All I had to do was update to 2024, it took in the box. Number is the same so if they wanted to verify extension they could. Also, had renewed my CDL last year and there's a "Real ID" box to click now in profile.

I figure I've either done their work for them or as you mentioned, confused them.

So did you get your renewal approved and a new expiration date then?

Just punched everything in Monday night. I'll check in a few days but as of now, no. I think last year, after providing all they asked for, took a couple of days.

My last one, I hope. Adios to CA in 4 to 6 months, out of state home bought 4 years ago.

Yes, it did. Finally cleared the last hurdle with the email follow-up.

The CFARS user guide states that passwords are set to expire every 90 days.
