    Hypothetically Speaking--Using C & R when SHTF

Assuming all modern firearms (AR, AK, semi-auto handguns, etc) are no longer legal to possess (curse the progressive Dems if this really does happen), which one of your C & R firearms would you rely on when SHTF? Pick one for home defense and one for survival (hunting, long range engagement, etc). Discuss.

Home defense--M1 Carbine. Luckily all my mags work well

Survival--Madsen M47. 30.06 is a great all-purpose round that should be plentiful/easy to barter if you ever run low.

As a matter of fact, I do. I have an 91/59, a Polish M44, and a Finn M39. They are either not as accurate, or too heavy for me.

If SHTF...there is no such thing as "no longer legal to possess".

If SHTF and C&R's are all we have to arm ourselves with, well then my rig would consist of: my workhorse Type 56 SKS, Star Super in 9mm Largo, and a K31 strapped to my back for advanced range shots if need be. Determined by practicality, ammo availability (both out there and what I currently have in inventory), and hodgepodge end-times cool factor.

All the prettier guns would stay in the safe, waiting for saner times hah. Fun scenario to play out in the mind.

My 1943 M1 Carbine is my SHTF rifle. It has been to the range with me a couple time since I purchased. 200+ rounds downrange and zero FTFs or FTEs. Sure, it's not a 30-06 or 300 winmag, but it's light enough to cart around, accurate out to 100 yards (for me), and still has .357 power at that range.

You actually think they will make a decision between C&R and modern guns. They will take all but flintlock guns.

You can still do some damage with them old flintlocks

But you do need a good, light hatchet to go with that!

For several decades, my Underwood M-1 Carbine had been my go-to rifle for home defense.
Last year, I finally replaced it from that role.
^It went back into safe and Ruger PC Carbine took over the role as go-to rifle for home defense.

                              I would prefer the SKS
