    CMP Garands received

When the CMP started accepting orders for M1s on 8/23 I ordered two. CMP received my paperwork on 8/26 and I received these two on 9/8.

    First rifle:
Serial #: 956xxx Springfield November 1942, CMP wood, barrel dated March 1955. The stock has no cartouches and already has quite a few dings and dents, not that I mind. The stock does have some nice looking grain.

Most parts of trigger group are HRA.

    Second rifle:
Serial #: 3745xxx Springfield May 1945, USGI wood, barrel dated April 1945. NFR stock cartouche.

    NFR stamp

    "24" and crossed cannons

    "40" painted on receiver

        Great rifles!

What grade did you order? Really like the looks of that first one

These were service grades. Field grades are not available at this time.

Looks like you made out pretty good. That GI stock has a lot of character. I bet that '55 dated barrel is a real shooter.

The HRA H trigger housing on the 3.7 SA is quite rare and probably good trading material for the proper TH for you. I'm just sayin'.........

Couldn't have asked for a better pair. I'm with ya on that stock, even with the bruises the grain is gorgeous

Good to know. I was thinking the IHC gas plug may be that one last piece someone with an IHC needs.

I had heard the term "NFR" before but know nothing about them. I guess these were the last batch of SA rifles produced during WWII? Of course this assumes the stock is original.
