    Just picked up this beauty

Always wanted to have a ppk, came across this at turners in Pasadena and figured for 400 dollars why not, I'm just curious if any of you knowledgeable folks could give me more information on it.

EDIT: wow appreciate all the feedback and information from everyone, my first piece of anything curio and relic related, seems I started off pretty well it seems. Dunno if I plan to shoot it but if I do I'll definitely do an range report and see how 76 year old pistol shoots. Thank you everyone!

According to the slide it's chambered in 7.65mm (aka .32acp)

OP, at $400 it would have been really hard for me to walk away too. Very nicely done.

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It seemed like a good deal, unfortunately it did not have a magazine would that affect it's collectability?

No but it will affect your ability to do a safe handling demo.

$400 is basically a screaming deal.
One in .32 sold a week or two ago here on Calguns in the bay area. It went for $700 in a matter of hours.

Congrats, great price. The gun rack is typically over priced but occasionally someone undervalues something.

Nice! Have you looked up the serial number? It looks to be either a pre-war or immediate post-war model. Does not look mid or late war as I understand they stopped using bluing and the fancy brown grips, and you would have a little eagle stamp on the right under the ejection port instead of a crown with "N". check the inside of your slide, by the ejection port there should be an electropenciled serial number, that will confirm for you if it is matching slide/frame. It certainly appears so from the bluing, which I must say is in amazing shape. The matching period magazine might set you back 60-150 bucks but modern new production ones should work just fine and be cheaper

Edit: here you go I just found this on google:

Your PPK appears to be somewhere between 1939 and 1940 production date. Very cool that it survived in that condition after all these years, I'd say you certainly got more than your money's worth at $400 and I probably would have had to buy it also. (I don't think even the new production ones can be had for that cheap used). Good instincts on that one, let us know how it shoots!

Wow edit again: I just looked online, the grips alone go for at least a couple hundred bucks if they are original! Be careful with those, don't go changing them out haphazardly for hogue grips or something!

There are new Mec-Gar mags for sale on ebay right now for like $22 apiece.

Very nice. I would have been all over that Walther for $400...

I'm not sure which is the correct mag it may be the prewar style banner only. Research it and get it as to maximize value on the gun. I've seen the correct mags on Gunbroker and ebay.
