Locally? It's worth the same as anywhere else in America less shipping. Since it's a homebuild, it's not worth about what all the parts cost less 10%.

My guess is about $600. It's a pretty niche market, but that's probably about what I would pay.

        More than that...

        150 for the kit
        150 for the barrel
        100 for the tube
285 for the bolt and springs
        Milling, welding, painting...
        800-1000?

Nice Sten... I think its a niche market but should sell fast. Last one I saw in the market place sold within a few days.

$500 at most, and that's being generous.

Since it is built from a home-made receiver, can you legally sell it?

Yes as long as it is serialized correctly.

As for price, I have built one myself and I think that I would pay about $600 for one that I bought. It is really fun to shoot and surprisingly accurate and reliable. You did a really nice job with yours and the finish looks great. I blued mine and tried to keep the aged look of the surplus parts.

I'm trying to clear a few firearms to make a little "spending money". It's a fun firearm, but it's one that doesn't really fit what I'm doing.

Cost would make me decide if this is one of them that I might part with. I've seen one go for around $600 but over a year ago. Price may have gone down or up....I don't know. At that price, I might put it up. We'll see.

The piece has the "old" serial number still on it, so selling it I doubt is going to be a problem. The old serial number was on the magazine port. The firearm is painted as it was when I started on it (in the kit). It was not "blued". The MKII are usually blued. One of the reasons I'm also considering selling this one is, I'm about 75% finished doing a MKII (which I really like).

Thank you guys for the import.

PS: this is not an auction and was not intended to be. I just needed a price so I could list it in the "for sale" section on the forums. Which is where I will sell it. I prefer to sell it locally....just easier on this piece.

A Glock sells for 600. The cool factor on the sten puts it around 800. I don't remember the last time I saw one on the consignment rack.

Agree with the consensus. It's a $600-$650 gun, with a rare/coolness factor that gives it another $100-$150 in value.

Id say around $500 or a little more but It does need more then just an old serial number.
