Thanks. I don't recall ever seeing that before. Still, it would not be hard to fashion a clamp on muzzle device or a stock extension to make length.

Silly question, won't it be considered a short barrel rifle when using the shoulder stock? And isn't it an AW if you don't fix the mag because it feeds from other than the grip? Just asking.

C&R exempt for SBR/SBS in most states. Under ATF it is exempt. The only NFA guns that go not qualify for C&R exemption federally are full autos and silencers AFAIK. OP is not in CA.

The magazine IS fixed on a broomhandle. IT loads form the top

There do exist detachable mag brooms, mostly from China rebuilt from full auto 712 parts into semis. I have one- it's a RAW.

That is a super nice rig!! It has the perfect amount of wear, to show it's authenticity.

My guess is that the picture is relatively early in WWI. They were still trying to shoot at other planes with handguns and a few primitive semi-auto rifles. That little contraption, which is, indeed, California legal, would have been a major step up. And considering that the time in which another plane would likely have been in range, I don't think reloading was as much of an issue. Besides, even if he only reloaded 2-3 of them, it would still be better than nothing.

Speaking of reloading..... Does anyone have an idea of when and/or where this ammo was made? A friend gave it to me yesterday and he had no idea of where it came from.

BTW, the box was open when I got it.

SBP = Sellier & Bellot, Prague

It is probably corrosive, so clean accordingly.
                      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Thanks, I am not going to shoot it, most likely just use it for photo opportunities.
