Will an M44 stock fit on a 91/30? - link to pics added

Waste of time and money there.

But I like my rifles to remain the way they were when they defeated the Nazi's. I see more guys at the range being laughed at with their bubba job rifles more and more. But I never see a guy with a original Mosin catching grief. Maybe the word is spreading that these rifles will not last forever...

If you think that 91/30 is an "antique" then I got a heck of a deal on some boards from the early 1900s for ya. or maybe even some rocks from the turn of the century or some nails from the 1920s.

...this 20 year old kid's desire to learn gunsmithing and modification is worth MUUUUUUCH more than that rifle.

A 91/30 is a antique. Just because they are cheap and plentiful does not mean they have no history.

The M44 stalk is the same as the 91/30. The handguards have been shortened on the M44. It should work.... by why? They are nearly the same. If you purchased a Polish model or Finnish model they might be VERY different though.

Ten bucks says the OP is going to put a collapsable stock on it and a muzzlebrake. Or he just wants it shortened so he can make aweseome fireballs and bruise his shoulder good!

Also, if you're going to do the scout scope thing, there's only two mounts that can stay put through the recoil of the 7.62x54r...S&K mounts or Darrells. All others WILL loosen and fail.

My opinion on doin' a bubba to a rifle, DON'T. If you don't appreciate it for what it is (a nazi killing tool), then don't get one. And I think there was something like 77 million of them made. My 91/30 will stay in it's original condition.

I say go look at www.surplusrifle.com. They have some fine "bubba'd" versions. But taking a $80 rifle and putting several hundred extra into ... well that's just a choice. Its up to do. I did a resto mod. I made mine into the Sniper PU version. I updated the scope, bedded the action, better bolts, floated the barrel. Its MOA at 100-200-300 yards and even 2MOA up to 600 yard.... It wasn't cheap, but I can go toe to toe with some high class rifles.

I'd also look at what www.boxotruth.com has done to clean up the accuracy.

Well I will put up pics and this ain't gonna be like any bubba job i've seen. i'll let you guys be the judge, but either way its still gonna be fun as hell to shoot at the range while my AR is cooling off. And Damn I wish i had read this post a week ago because I ordered that damn NcStar scope mount and the POS sucks, lol, I can bend the damn thing almost by resting the weight of ONE finger on it... oh well, looks like I have to buy a good one. Why don't they just make em out of steel?

Well.....At least it's not posted in the C&R Gallery (as it's no longer a C&R rifle).

Just be aware it can no longer be sold as a C&R rifle (FTF), so don't get goofed up when or if you sell it. It now has to go through a 01FFL I think.
