First of all, don't let her go. It is rare to find a woman who appreciates this kind of decor.

I do not have a fireplace (wood stove), however I do have a Pennsylvania Long Rifle hanging above my TV.

Funny you mention this, I also have (copies of course) the Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States, and Bill of Rights I got from the US Capitol gifts shop, hanging in my hallway in black frames.
Until I got these I had no idea that the Bill of Rights as proposed contained 12 amendments and the 1st & 2nd were actually the 3rd & 4th.

A client had a trap door carbine with the Indian brass bead decorations
on the stock over the fireplace. Looked great.

You can get an idea of what you like here - http://www.davide-pedersoli.com/guns...es/rifles.html

I like Kentucky rifles. They usually had some adornment on the stock that added to it's decorative appeal.

I've got my 1874 Remington Rolling Block crossed with a Patton sword above my fireplace. I know the eras are in conflict, but they look good together!

And seems that for what you'd spend for a decent replica you could get an old piece of history instead...

I have an Nepalese P-1853 Enfield with a Gurkha knife hung over my mantel.

yes, in English this is the correct word.

we Californians may prefer to use "trabuco", and that particular example looks somewhat Continental, with engraved barrel flats.

It's a thought but the idea of a percussion blunderbuss is a little weird. Should be a flintlock.

This is over our woodstove. Even the old rifle is not safe from my wifes Christmas decorations.
