Neat, now we have to go to the next show and see what we can find. Like that idea of a back up with maybe grape shot(look out Mr. Bad-guy) in it.I picked up an old belgian trap door heavy octagonal barrel long gun at the Santa Barbara show for a wopping 80 bucks it is some weird 7.62 cal looks over a hundred years old. I am hanging it above my pheasant mount here at house. The barrel is so heavy i thought I could pour split shot and screws on top of 30 cal blank ramset load and it would be my back up gun(LOL)Comment

How about an old Blunt (sp) gun that looks like a round funnel at the tip? You drop a handful of powder down the barrel and drop in some old screws, nails, gravel, staples, condoms, golf tees, nuts, bolts, door knobs, loose change, old keys, dog collars, cabinet handles, welding rod nubs, and other stuff in there to shoot.

Western? I say Sharps 1874 50 Cal.
Kinda biased though, as my folks have great great grand dad's sharps mounted on the wall in their den. Great conversation piece. "it's the rifle from quigly down under... True grit.."

We have a flintlock musket hanging in a public part of our house. It looks good and it's something of a conversation piece. Nobody's been freaked out by it so far - it pretty much looks like a museum piece. Gun people ask what it is and do I shoot it (yes) and non-gun people I think mostly assume it's non-functional.
Mostly what it is, is too long to fit in the safe...Comment

I'm assuming replicas can be bought w/o going through a ffl?"The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke speech of 23 April 1770, "Thoughts on the Cause of the Present Discontents," delivered to the House of Commons.Comment

We are going to hang my 45-70
On Elk horns of some sort.
Out of the blue my wife wants to take down the painting we have over the mantle and replace it with a rifle of some sort, like it the old western films.
First I thought of a muzzle loader/ black powder, second maybe a Henrys lever gun. We could also put up a replica of some sort. I need some ideas.
It would be visible from the front door. Maybe a coach shot gun?Comment
