Actually it all started because he lost the mounting screws.
Next thing you know some operators at the range were coping him.
Before long you couldn't operate without them.Only slaves don't need guns

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Protect it from what? There's no coverage to protect anything. Also, most rail covers are used to keep your hand from feeling like you've been hanging onto a cheesegrater(or in some cases keep it from directly contacting the metal closest to the gas block depending on your rifle configuration). The handguard pictured is going to get just as beat to hell with that cord run though it, as it would have without it(pending actual use).
I guess if you don't have a carpet to drop the rifle on, this might help protect your hard wood flooring while you're doing tactical ninja rolls behind the couch?Comment

to secure the sling....jeeezzz you guys sometimes....duhhh.Comment

Yes, a simple band is all it takes to keep a sling against a rifle if it's stowed in a rack, so the sling isn't just flopping around. Not this laced through the handguard crap. Easily pops off and you have a usable sling, rather than screwing around with a sling that's been rigged up like it's going to be used in a parade on a drill rifle.Comment
