What's with the bungies that I'm seeing laced through handguard vent holes

I'm puzzled...is this Tier 1 stuff or something else, maybe from a video game??...

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in. Mark Twain

Tacticool fad. May have a use for securing a sling or cables, but 99% of the time I see it, it's just there. Think of the people who braid paracord and stick it on everything. ARs have finally become full blown "men's barbie dolls" now with fashion accessories.

I'm betting that metrosexuals who do this also shave their body hair and have nothing left to braid.

No, that's clearly a bungie cord. I think it was warsport or lvoa that had a video a while back showing off a rail with some tactical bungie mounts used to string up the front of the rifle between the garment hangers above the doors in a car once.

Anyway, it'll be amusing in a couple of years once they start incorporating 80's fringe. They'll call it the "tactical ghillie mod" or something.

Oh wait. Maybe they can bring back hypercolor and paint everything so it changes from FDE, to OD, and then black?

                          Bungee cord? How

Now paracord is where it's at, especially tactical paracord like Navy SEALs use. Wrapping paracord around a knife handle makes the blade 24% stronger and 11% sharper. Scientific fact. Probably has a similar effect on the accuracy of AR-15s.

Right, but this is a tactical hair scrunchie. Paracord is so 2012.

The only time I ever used paracord on an AR was to wrap up a buffer tube on an AR pistol so it would be a little more comfortable to use and not have cold (or hot) metal against my face while shooting it. I could spend $20+ for a foam-rubber contraption, or I could wrap it in para-cord for free. Free works for me.

Never seen a bungee cord on an AR like in the OP. However, if you needed to mount your rifle to an ATV or 4 Wheel Drive Truck while you patrolled your ranch or farm, a bungee cord might be useful. Ranchers and farmers have to deal with predators like Coyotes. Making that bungee cord more useful to them than most people's AR is period! Those guys are not just punching paper. They are protecting their livelihood. If a bungee cord makes doing that a little easier by letting them strap it to their vehicle in an easy to access place...then that is a good thing.

So I am withholding judgement. There could be a perfectly valid reason for it. Necessity is the mother of invention after all.

These days it seems like everybody is trying to prove how cool they are by making fun of other people they think are trying to be cool. It's lame fellas. You only end up making yourself seem like the self obsessed poser you are trying to make fun of. But hey, whatever floats your boat and keeps you entertained.
