    Anyone have experience with Eotech's?

Hey Fellas, I'm looking for an optic for my Colt LE6920. Its my first AR so I'm kinda a noob. Just looking for something to punch holes in some paper and look cool, haha.

    How's this sight?

Would anyone be scared ordering it online from Amazon? I would hate to get a clone or something.

    Thanks in advance!

Eotech is a great sight. I sold mine and I regretted it ever since..I will be buying one again soon. Amazon should be fine.

Eotech 512 gets my vote. Have one on my Mid-Length. Battery life isn't that great but just remember to turn it off before storing it.

If Eotech isn't in the budget, look into the Aimpoint PRO

Aimpoint pro is about the same price so not really going to save much there.

I had one that went to hell and back. It took some serious abuse, and finally started to crap out on me.

Every time I pulled the trigger, the sight would momentarily shut off from the recoil because the battery would lose contact.

I also witnessed another one cease to function after taking a direct hit from a sim round.

They are good sights and the reticles provide limited ranging ability, but if you want something bombproof with better battery life, get an Aimpoint.

I have the 512 on one of my Colts, I do not like it.

                  - The operating buttons are between your eyes and the sight making it difficult to adjust intensity while still looking through sights, "pet peeve"
                  - Battery life is not good, if you leave it on by mistake you will arrive at the range with a dead sight "Yes I have done that"
                  - Has the feel of a "Box" on my rail......
                  - Not NVG capable

I much prefer the Aimpoint Micro , I have this on another Colt 6920, Far better in my view.

I like the 512 mostly because you can use AA batteries, In the time of real need good luck trying to find 123 / CR batteries.....

For 100$ more you could get the eotech exps2, which is arguably an improvement on the legacy eotech line. It has a single transverse mounted cr123 battery so it eliminates recoil induced battery contact interruption, has side mounted control buttons which allows for easier magnifier use, takes up less rail space, and includes a quick release mount that puts the optic at a lower 1/3rd cowitness with standard AR height sights.

If you decide to opt for an aimpoint, check out the aimpoint pro. It can be had for 380-420 and is ready to go out of the box with mount, battery, & flip caps also.

Just some options for you to look at. The eotech website has a breakdown if all the various models.

I have a T-1 and love it but I have to say the EoTEch circle dot sight is nice but that battery and size may get on your nerves.

Eotechs are all over US Military guns in Afghan photos! That says a lot about them to me!

Before you spend $400+ on an Eotech make sure you do not have astigmatism.

Those sights are funny things. I can see a perfect round dot from a Truglo but I see some funny shaped splatter from an Aimpoint
