In the SPECIFIC CASE of the OP, he has a second factor, which is the freefloat handguard influencing the total set of conditions that need to be right for the rear sight to naturally be centered.
And that my friends is what we call "guess-nosis" diagnosing a problem by guessing.....that is unless you have laid hands on the OPs rifle ???

    BTW.
I'll stack my 2112 against Randalls anyday.

Troy sights don't have windage knobs.
Rodger that. The makers of Troy sights must agree that adjusting for wind is over rated. Just pump in your gravity come-ups and fire for effect. Got it.

Troy sights don't have elevation knobs either.
          They are BACKUP iron sights.
You flip them up if your primary optical sight fails.
They are intended to be setup for a 200yd battle sight zero.

              Sounds good to me.

Silly me, I thought the picture in the OP meant that his go to sights were iron.

Have you even tried adjusting the windage on troy sights via that little wheel in the OPs pic? I have. Can't do it without the rim of a case of flathead in the slot on the side. Even a 5.56 bullet tip doesn't press down on the detent ball enough(or at all really) to get that wheel loose. It is not the same as a knob you would turn on occasion to make adjustments. It's meant to stay put unless you absolutely have to move it. I suppose you might be able to do it with gloves on, but again it's not meant to just casually dial back and forth. If you want windage adjustable sights you can actually adjust without tools, those exist, but the troys are not.

At least you haven't made the leap to Thorax's level of logic, but cut the crap already.

It could be that he is using backup sights in a primary sight role.
There are lots of people whose only tool that they own is a hammer.
Some people might even try to use their hammer to paint a wall and then be surprised at the results...

I never heard of Troy sights until today.

Some 30 plus years ago I did have to threatened with extra PT if I didn't learn how to apply what is now referred to as, The British Wind Rule.

Our M16A1s came with standard adjustable iron sites. And if we wanted to refer to ourselves as self-respecting Marines and Riflemen we thought it appropriate to know how to adjust both front and rear iron sights in all types of weather conditions, including extended distances on windy days. Until now, I had no idea that removing the iron sight wind age capability on an AR was even an option much less a signature feature.

As of today, the sighting system on whatever AR I have in my hands at the time is my primary sight no matter if it's iron, aim point or scope. The other two systems are alternate sighting systems. And rest assured that all three systems have operational wind age capabilities.

Please keep in mind that neither did I post the picture nor did I post any correctable suggestions pertaining to the questionable position of the rear sight. I noticed that two posters were in an intellectual battle of firearms related wits that appears counter-productive at best. I would prefer to keep the discussion on topic for the respect and benefit of the OP.

Should any mentally combative individual feel confused or intimidated with my own confidence in me and equipment then that's an issue beyond my capabilities and interests to remedy.

When your talking about carry handle sights, yeah you get windage adjustments. There are of course also detachable carry handles with sights that have windage adjustments, and fixed detachable sights(without the carry handle bit) that are also meant to be adjusted regularly.

When you want a backup sight(which is what the troy folding sights are) meant to be low profile so they can sit underneath and optic or out of the way of controls on some red dots, yes some things tend to disappear since they're no longer used as a primary sight(hence being referred to as backups).

As far as what gets issued, eotechs at one point or another were getting issued(no idea if they still are) and those do not have thumb knobs to fiddle with the windage(or elevation).

Point being, they aren't standard AR sights.
