    WASR-10

Hey guys well i picked up my first rifle yesterday (sks)
and i still cant stop drooling everytime i see it , and im starting to have a fasination with AK style rifles, so my next gun will be an AK - 47, now ive searched around and i see alot of ppl putting down the WASR-10 ak-47 , whats the reason for that ? Ive seen them for sale in the 350-400 $ range so they are not that pricy; now my question is why do ppl put them down? any thing wrong w them?

Also i WAS gonna get a saiga and mod it to look like an AK-47 , but now that ive seen the WASR i really want one , any imput on this ? thanks guys!

also , double checking the only way i could have a pistol grip on a WASR-10 is by having a fixed mag right, like using a rad lock or BB ?
*DISCLAIMER* I probably misspelled alot of things, and i dont care...

    But to each his own

You would love a Saiga more though...

the WASR10 that I owned worked great. Even during rapid fire, bump fire it never let me down. I ran about 400rds of wolf through it and it worked fine. Every person has an opinion on something so I dont pay much attention to them.

Saiga is Russian made, but do not have the "old school" silohuette of an AK47, even with the pistol grip conversion.

If you're looking for a cheap plinker, wasr-10's will get the job done.
If you can save up a little more, say $600 or so, you can get a better finished AK like a Vector.

To each there own. I've shot a wasr-10, a milled receiver Bulgarian, and my Sierra Arms AKs, all performed well using cheapO wolf. The only difference was of course the quality of the wood and metal finishes.

+100%. Once you put about 500 rds. down the tube (to smooth out all the "rough edges"), they are simply wonderful. Yes, there are "WASR-haters" (mostly just talking out their aszszes), but I defy any one with a blindfold on to shoot both the WASR10 & a "REAL Russian AK47" and prove that they can tell the difference, or which one is "better." After owning a WASR10 (it's my only AKM variant), and being able to buy any other style AK if I wanted to, I have come to one conclusion: anyone who pays upwards of $600-$1200 for these Arsenals or Vectors are only paying for more carefully manufactured cosmetics, thus a "prettier" rifle. AK's weren't meant to be "pretty." Suckers, IMHO.

darn metroqueerosexuals might as well put pink furniture on, pink furniture would still be better than gold plating your ak though.

Blah Blah Blah..... I still think they are cheap... Its just my opinion though, i never liked them.... Thats why i have a Saiga...I rather have a real Russian rifle, then any cheap imitation...

And no i am not talking out of my ***... its just you think so because the truth hurts and no one likes to hear bad things of what they purchased...

                    Wasr hater, me? true.

The only bad thing I've heard about then is the finish, and some may have canted sights. But overall everyone that has them loves them.

Mine is the WASR 2 in 5.45 and it's actually pretty nice for a WASR. I bought it at J&G and looked at about 6--they were bringing them out for me and another customer. Generally, they are happy to bring out several for you to choose from. I looked them over pretty carefully and the choice came down to 2. I took the one with the better trigger. The metal looks ok, but the wood is pathetic. It's not so much poorly finished as barely finished. I don't think the wood was sanded at all, there may have been some in the shop somewhere, but the finish makes up for it by barely being present. It's so thin I suspect the finish was sprayed on all the stocks in the storeroom by someone standing at the door and trying to get them all at once.

If I ever refinish the wood it will actually look pretty good (for an AK). If you're going to buy a WASR try to look at it first.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

All very good points. They're not ARs for Pete's sake.

The best "bang-for-the-buck" in my opinion is a Romy G that has been built by someone who does good work.

Here's one that I built, from a flat, and that was parkerized (while I waited) by FEDUP.

You'll see them on the boards for around $500 or so, sometimes less, sometimes more. If they've been built well, they are hard to beat.
