I would NEVER trade my 6940 for a 516. Talk about a downgrade...Artist formally known as CEO of Tracy Rifle and Pistol -
It's two completely different platforms....DI vs Piston.
From what I hear, those who own the Sig516 love it and don't have any issues (although a quick search showed earlier models had some FTF/FTE issues). But recently, there have been many calguners with the SIG516 and have no issues.
The Colt is nice, but I think people love it because of the history, DoD supplier, etc. and I personally don't necessary believe it to be a downgrade. I think both rifles are a keeper.Comment

i would keep the Colt, and add a 516 or similar piston system.Comment

Not sure what's motivating this decision, but the Colt Monolithic upper is one of the nicest systems available. Keep the rifle, and get rid of the knife.Comment

DROSed a Colt 6940. Been wanting one for a long time, went with a Barrett Rec7 awhile back. Piston runs really clean, so I'm looking foward to my first DI gun, especially since it's a Colt. Looked into the other piston platforms for a lightweight AR, but already have one, and it's nose heavy compared to DI platforms.Comment
