Not unless you're planning on transferring it at some point, although it never hurts to put a serial # on there so that a LEO will have something to type into a database, or so you'll have something to put on the form if registration happens. A location doesn't hurt, either. But neither's required at this point if you just plan on keeping it.
Oh, and to answer OP's question, never had a range employee do anything other than eye the bullet button but I've had people ask what brand my AR is, usually in a puzzled tone of voice. It's kind of cobbled together...
