Anyone ever been questioned on you AR configuration at the range? Example. Why doesn't your lower have a serial # or a brand name? Why are you using thirty round mags ( if your featureless).

Once someone asked about the way my rifle was configured, but it was a friendly question from someone clearly not hip to California law.
I am pretty open about my stuff and offer to let folks shoot if they want, but no one has every bothered me about my mags or anything.Originally posted by NorCalK9.comHecka funny all my friends with AR's call them "clips" but I call them bullet holder things lolOriginally posted by MikeRSo suck it HK, If I wanted an $800 pistol with a crap trigger I would just go buy 2 Glocks.Comment

I saw a guy using a 30-rd mag with no bullet button and a pistol grip. I didn't question him. Could have been LEO, or government.
With that said, i don't ask nor has anyone asked me. The only thing people say about my rifle is "that thing is bad-***"Comment

Only about my featureless configuration. Something they had not seen before.Anyone press will hear the fat lady sing.

Nope. I am usually curious about guns and ask, politely, about what they are shooting and their feedback on performance. It is nice to get an owners perspective on a gun I know nothing about. I would never offer my opinion on legality of configuration. About the only time I would voice concern if people are being unsafe around me. My club requires its members to help uphold safety and club rules.*********************

I was a volunteer RSO for almost 15 years at a local range and got all kinds of questions from shooters questioning other peoples firearms. I told all of them that I wasn't law enforcement and didn't care what other people shot at the range as long as they didn't go full auto and start shooting up the target frames. Surprising how many seemed upset at that response.
When I did question someone, I made it clear that I was simply curious and not out to get them. Most were quite willing to talk about their pride and joy.Comment

Reason was with me getting ready to start on my 80% lower. Last thing I want is someone nosy. I have nothing to hide but I'd feel hassled especially right now since black rifles are evil.
If I told a LEO it's and 80% lower I built myself would he know the law? Would he accept it? I hate to have to explain why it has no SR#.Last edited by fonzy; 04-14-2013, 4:13 PM.sigpicComment

I have never had anyone bother me about unmarked receivers but you could always just say you "built" it (don't bother with explaining 80% if they don't already know) and that it's completely legal to build your own firearms.Reason was with me getting ready to start on my 80% lower.
