There is never a wrong season to buy ammo, unless it's gouging season. In Glock We Trust.

I don't need a lot of ARs or AKs, I just need one of each that works every time. Then, spend most of they money on ammo and scheduled maintenance replacement parts.NRA, CGF, GSSF, SAF member

I bought buckets of ammo months ago because I was sure that the fear and paranoia would do nothing but drive prices up, up, and up some more.
I don't think anything will happen to our 2A rights on a national level, but there's no question that the extra demand by those freaking out will push up prices for everyone else.
I have no real intentions of buying or building any more guns (for now), but I did just sell one of my ARs for top dollar and used the money to buy a nice big safe to keep everything I currently have in, instead of individually locked.
It seems the impact will only happen if we, the gun community let it. And it looks like we're more than happy to.Comment

I have seen .223 and 9mm get raised over the last few months. Glad I stockpiled before that. Just going to be shooting .22 for awhile anyway. Did get a few Glock rebuild kits though. Damn things are hard to come by when the panic starts.Comment

Well, just before the election, I bought 3 vintage 1911 .45 pistols - a WW1 Colt 1911 made in 1918, a 1944 WW2 1911A1 Remington Rand with an Ithaca slide, and a 1945 Norwegian "M1914" 1911.
Didn't have nothing to do with no election, though. I'm just a sucker for The Big Colt, and 3 of them just happened to cross my path at the right time for the right price.
I also bought a Romanian WASR-10/63 a few weeks ago - I'd been wanting another AK for a while now, and a nice one came along at a decent price. I do admit that dislike and distrust of our petty Marxist overlords at the state and national level did slightly influence my decision to get the AK, but again it wasn't a "panic buy", it was an "opportunity buy".Comment

The funny thing about these price increases is that the expensive stuff doesn't raise very much, just the low end goes nuts.
Putting together a TM-10 (LR308 pattern) rifle has given me just one parts sourcing issue, the BCG. Instead of scrounging for plain Jane DPMS that's selling at a big premium compared to a few months back, I went for JP LMOS and an adjustable gas block so that I can tune the action and get it running really nice. The prices have not changed but instead of being 3x the cost of DPMS, it's about 1.5x now which makes the upgrade a lot easier to swallow.
So buy a nice gun with premium parts and you won't feel like you got ripped off so badly in a few months.
If inflation hits hard, even the premium stuff will seem like a bargain.Comment

I'm planning on buying a lower this weekend at Riflegear. It has nothing to do with the election, I've been planning on it or a while. I will be stocking up on ammo at Crossroads of the West in a couple weeks, but that has also been planned for awhile sine it is the last gunshow of the year. I have no intention of getting caught up in the hysteria of it all.Comment

I just bought a BCG for part of my AR pistol build thats been progressing over the last couple months...just so happens that Obama got reelected the day before I bought it. He had nothing to do with the build. The one thing that I am tempted to do is buy rebuild kits since everyone is having sales to make room for the 3rd gen PMAGS...not that I get to use them in Cali lolComment

If you waited until now to stock ammo, or buy a critical primary firearm, you might as well just forget about it.
Spend your money on as many half gallons of cheap vodka as you can buy, then you will only need one bullet to solve all your problems when society collapses and you run out of liquid anesthesia.
Okay... I might be little bitter today...sorry in advance!Comment
