I don't think you could get a big enough magnet to hold the weight of the rifle.

Frankly seems kinda like a solution looking for a problem.

We've got the MMG! Why even worry about a silly magnet?
FWIW, I love the MonsterMan Grip. And I think rifles built with it look damned good.

Rare earth magnets are shockingly strong. Think 20lbs+ for a 1/4" diameter. The magnet still needs to be strong enough the grip will NEVER fall off, but not so strong that you can't remove it when desired. Not as easy as it sounds.

However, I REALLY don't understand how a magnetic grip is better than a bolt. It take about 30 seconds to switch a grip. If you really wanted, you could machine a long bolt for the PG that would allow you to remove it faster. The MMG is well exposed for fast removal.

I got one of the first grips MonsterMan made. He even sent it to me free to try out and if I liked it to send him money ($ 25.00 + postage, back then) I still have the same one and I think it is very ergonomic and functional. Certainly a good compromise to be able to have an AR.

I love my MMG on my AK. It's really comfy, and works excellent.

Thanks for the nice words. And that goes to everyone else as well. I am happy you all like it.

Hopefully you have upgraded by now to the new grip. It is SOOOO much better.

yeah, i agree... i was just commenting on the "magnets don't stick to aluminum" comment and just came up with a solution to it. and yes, rare earth magnets are freakishly strong, most people think of magnets like the ones you stick on your fridge.

i myself would just get a mmg and be done with it. it's a great product and lets you use your detachable magazines. can't have enough praise for such an awesome solution!

thanks! planning on adding a couple more to the family throughout this year... probably 2 more, a lightweight 16" and a pistol from centermass... that should round the ar's out nicely. then i can start concentrating on my handguns and long-range stuff...
