Another buffer/retainer problem

Well, a more apt analogy would be carburetor is to mechanical fuel injection is to direct injection as blowback is to gas piston is to direct impingement.
Any way, PWS makes a very nice enhanced carbine buffer tube which would help with the carrier tilt and a bolt carrier with the little skis on the back would help also.
For all the reliability that gas piston systems are supposed to offer, your rifles broke...Comment

To me it looks like the buffer tube wasn't screwed in far enough to secure the buffer pin?Comment

Well there is Lambda N, speed density, closed loop speed density, closed loop mass flow, etc.
Central port injection, electronic carburetors, etc.
But by direct injection I meant the latest and greatest, like Ford Eco-Boost which has the fuel injectors in the cylinder head, spraying directly in to the cylinder (kind of like a diesel)...Comment

I don't think so.
It looks like a bit of the tube broke off because the carrier tilt wore it thin and if you look in front of the buffer retainer pin, it looks like it might have been pushed forward a bit ovaling out the hole.
There certainly isn't enough room to thread it in another complete rotation.Comment

Gah, it looks like the subscribers of that forum dedicated to the most unreliable battle rifle (carbine) ever fielded by the US have been sharing their koolaid with calguns.

It's been decades since the last time the US widely issued a battle rifle. Which battle rifle are you talking about? M14? M1 Garand? How is this relevant to the discussion at hand?Comment
