That means if ANYONE can do it, that will make that particular rifle an "assault weapon" (if it is with any evil features); so whoever MADE that rifle, would be guilty of "manufacturing of an assault weapon".

The stronger spring is good and the nut will be more durable with an anodized finish. The housing is a little too short for comfort. If BB II was all that was available, I would make a guard plate with a smaller hole and either JB weld or roll pin it to the housing. I think I'll stick with the original BB.

This would be interesting to see it played out in court.

Definitely interesting. And I am NOT interested to be the "test case" (as personally, I don't even believe that there is ground to stand on this particular one).

So, anyone? Who want to be a "test case"?

This is an idea I think will work REALLY well.

A hex setscrew or a flush hex screw will work well too.

I believe version 2 is getting back to the beta version that was prone to failure by allowing it to be operated just like a standard USGI button. I do not believe the stiffer spring will keep it out of the danger zone that the beta version was in.

The button housing needs a method to anchor itself in the lower. Version 1 had that with the ears on the trailing edge. With an anchor, on the inner button can be manipulated which is desirable from a legal perspective.

In short, it seems to me that we have gone around in a circle with this design.

                            Jicko,

I would not worry, several factors prevent manipulation.

                            1. The hole is .230 inch across and round, it is very small.

                            2. The front surface of the mag catch is still recessed .030 inch.

                            3. The spring is heavy, thus very hard to push with a fingernail.

                            4. the mag catch needs to travel to a face depth of .0125 before the mag can be released. The fingernail in question would have to be remarkably small, and strong to do this. It cannot happen.

If you are willing to have the faceplate add length to the design, just use the BULLET-BUTTON.

I've got to order a replacement nut as I kinda damaged mine when taking it out to put the BB in a different lower. Can I order a stronger spring as well? What would the nut and spring cost? I would obviously find some other stuff to order as well so it make sense for shipping.
