I did not know that they teach common sense in college, you my friend are way ahead of the curve. Keep it up and you will be forever prepared.
    Good luck in school.

I would kill for a Barret. Any model. Any caliber. But for a college student working part-time as a waiter for minimum wage, it's out of my price range. It sucks, but that's life. Besides, I know that if I'm patient that someday I'll probably have a nice job that allows me to spend my money on nice stuff like that.

    Just my .02, of course.

That would make sense...if gun grabbers thought logically.

You're more likely to see them ban .22 handguns because they can be suppressed easier than other guns. Not the suppressors, just the caliber so it can't be used with one later - we're thinking of the kids here.

I can't remember know, maybe it was Tubb, but someone made a LARGE caliber AR. I remember it had at least three chamberings and I remember one was a .300 and another was a .30-06. There is also the M76 8mm repros out right now, and while not the BEST quality and accuracy it fits your need at a lower budget of about $2.5k.

I used to think that way; "what's the most/best/etc *blank* I can get in firerams?" I find those novelty items sink SO much money and never get any use that it's depressing in the long run. Look at it this way; you could go get that single rifle you want or you could go pick up a very nice PTR-91, ORF Galil, and an AR-10 and probably still have enough money to buy a handgun or ammo for several range trips. Then again, that's just me.

There are no California legal badass big bore semi auto rifle made at this time. Biggest you can get is probably a 300win mag semi auto hunting rifle. Benelli R1 or Browning Bar. How about a Benelli M2, M3 or M4 that shoot 3" magnum with 1 1/2 oz slugs?

I think the Serbu BFG50A would be PERFECT but I don't think its available yet, no? Does Barrett have a M82A1 in 510DTC yet?

        thanks dudes no rush

            What caliber is that round?

If you don't have to have a semi, get a 50 DTC from any of the 50 makers. The round is HUGE

If you'd settle for a .338 LM, these run about $2,500 for the upper that sits on an AR lower:

One can get a M82A1 made in .510 DTC but it will cost you the price of an extra barrel to do so. So not the cheapest approach unless you want the extra barrel or can sell it to someone. To make it CA legal, one would then need to "fix" the mag or use MMG on it.

Serbu will start taking orders for their semi-auto .50 cal in 10 days, with the start of the SHOT show.

I'd suggest a .408 Chey Tac though the price will be just a we bit over the 5K limit.

For that amount of money I'd just build a bolt gun in .338 Lapua.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.
