Originally that was my plan, but getting reloading components for the .408 Chey Tac is a little sketchy now that Lost River Ballistics has gone out of business, so I got the .338 LM instead.
I may consider the .416 Barret in future if it becomes more mainstream, Barret actually releases some reloading data and the rifle does not prove to be a barrel burner as is hinted on Sniper's Hide. I already have two rifles with proprietary cartridges (fortunately AA has kept me well supplied on those), I am not sure I need a third one.

      But you'll die happy!

And I forgot to add: and poor, even a bolt action .338 LM costs a good penny to run, the guys that have semi auto either must be wealthy, work for the goverment or have a lot of kids to sell.

50BMG rifles are illegal. It's because of all those commercial airliners that have been shot down by them.

Crew served 50BMG is fine. 510DTC is fine. 50beowulf is fine. 500S&W is fine. etc. etc. etc.

illegal to purchase... not to own (before 2005), shoot or possess ammo.

btw, what the law says and bans, is a centerfired, RIFLE that is chambered for the 50 BMG.

so if you find a .50bmg HANDGUN or a tripod mounted one, like an M2, that isnt SHOULDER fired, you are good to go...

If you find a .50bmg handgun you're going to have a whole different set of problems.

If you reload .338LM you're looking at less than $1 per trigger squeeze. See post #44: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...t=89050&page=5

I'm planning on building a 338 off of a Ferret50 upper and an 80% lower with no mag well. Ferret said they are out of the uppers and the next production run will be in May with a finish date in august.

I'm thinking Ferret 50 upper in 338 with brake, 80% lower with no mag well, PRS Stock and MAID grip. Probably an IOR scope. That should be fun.
