I'll be trying out some Tula in my 1919. All the guys over on 1919a4 have said steel cased is fine in this particular gun.

I'll let y'all know how it goes.

What are you buying and for how much? I can get Tula/Wolf for $189 per 1000....

am I the only person who shoots tula in five different calibers (ak, ar, scar, etc etc) that has no problems with it what so ever?

Add me to the list. Out of the thousands of rounds of Tula I've shot, I only had a problem once; bad primer.

I let my beater AR go close to a thousand rounds without cleaning and it still cycled Tula.

you would be worried that your rifle is so reliable that it cycles the worst ammo on the market? Seriously I do not see logic there... even you said a rifle should be able to shoot anything... then you post the quote?

It works fine in my 1919 in .308 and has th bonus of a fireball at the muzzle when firing the next 10 round belt! Guess unburned powder fouling builds up at the booster and ignites when the next belt goes through.

Does the Tula problem happen in chrome lined chambers too or only in bare steel chambers? My Saiga .223/5.56 eats Wolf/Tula all day long and has a chrome lined chamber. Wondering if that is the key to success with steel cases?

No steel case ammo for me, I stick to my Wally world Federal bulk packs and save the brass for some nice reloads. And, I agree 22LR is an awesome round, almost close to my 20 year old Beeman precision pellet rifle that can put 5 shots in the same hole at 10m....!

I have used Tula in ALL of my handguns/rifles before, and it has yet to fail me.
Is it dirty? Hell yes. Does it go bang every time? It does in my weapons.

As long as you keep your weapons clean after each outing (which you should do anyway) then there is nothing wrong with cheap Tula ammo.

What I said was that a rifle should be able to cycle regardless of what material the case is made out of. Some people say, "Steel case causes problems in my AR." I say BS to that -- a quality AR will be able to feed and extract brass AND steel.

The comment you quoted, on the other hand, refers to how weak TulAmmo is. Forget for a moment that it's steel-cased; that's not relevant to this quote. We're just talking about the power. To understand what I said you would have to do some research on how the AR15 works. The AR15's direct impingement system, while not as picky as the haters would lead you to believe, does require a lot of things to be "right" in order to reliably cycle. Things like dwell time, buffer weight, gas port diameter. With normal ammunition it's not a problem. But TulAmmo is SO notoriously weak that it screws with even a well-tuned AR. It can and will cause problems such as short-stroking. XM193 is my go-to ammunition for the AR and it will generally shoot a 55gr bullet in the neighborhood of 3100fps. With TulAmmo I hear reports of 2600-2700fps.

Me too, AR, AK, various 9mm, 40S&W, .30 carbine all work well in my weapons...

I get one stuck in the chamber about every 150 rounds of Tula and have to pull the upper and tap it out with a rod. I have to remember to bring some CLP with me and give it a spritz about every 150 rounds and then I never have a problem. Sounds kind of extreme but when you're using 10 rd mags and a bullet button it seems like it takes a while to get there. Never have that problem with brass cased ammo.

Unless it's Wolf ammo I will never rely on imported ammo from Russia no matter how good the price is!! I admit I don't shoot much cuz in Los Angeles area the price is outraegious and the oly acceptable priced ammo is that stuff imported from Russia. You get what you paid for.... I'm sorry to say. My honest suggestion to you is to go back to American made ammo.

If you're using russian ammo you REALLY need a chamber brush. Especially if you have a tight chamber. When I shoot russian ammo in my DI AR I'll clean the chamber every 100rds or so. My GPU AR has no problems at all with any ammo.
