I know at least two of my buddies had AR's with them durring the last LA riots, seemed rather a necessity at the time.Last edited by Reductio; 07-21-2011, 10:16 PM.Originally posted by CSACANNONEERAh, the old "form over function" argument. Needless to say, but a .223 would enter, hit a vital organ, and exit pulling a good portion of that vital organ out with it. Serious overkill, and I'd hate to answer to LE about something like that, even if it was legitimate self defense. It would bring AR's to the forefront of controversy again, which none of us need.
On the other hand, think about a SoCal quake of great magnitude. Economic fallout for weeks or months, anarchy in the streets, civilians (Zombies) ransacking and pillaging houses for food, water and supplies, no aid from LE, etc. In such an event, you'd better believe I'd be picking off anyone that appeared to be deranged or suspect that ran, walked, crawled or lurked within 50 meters of my home.
Unless that happens, the only time my M4 will see the light of day is at the range.Comment

There are companies that sell quad rails for 329 so obviosly there are people shelling out that much.Again, I don't get it.I'dont want to compare platforms but for a few more bucks I can get an AK.Comment

My AR is a toy for the range. For home defense I have an XD 40 and a serrated machete which I have never had to use so far...so what does the OP suggest?, that I get rid of them because I haven't used them yet for home defense and because the manufacturers made money by selling them to me? SillyThings are a lot more like they used to be than they are now...Comment

I've got a 12 gauge and a Glock for that. The AR keeps the paper population at bay.JonahComment

I'd say a riot is a legit need lol.My point is all the fanfare behind buying all the upgraded overpriced borderline irrelevant stuff. Is it really needed?Comment

p.s. honestly I think you're trolling. good job.Yellowfin: The 2A in its true intent of what it protects can be summed up in one word: parity. Self defense means self defense from ANYTHING, and parity is being on level playing field with whatever threat may be.Comment

I think it's kinda missing the point, unless you contend that humans are only supposed to get what they need. People buy something over something else for a host of reasons, and guns (ARs or otherwise) are no exception.DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes.
