Well if youre paying that much for a rail I got a bridge I can sell you in Norcal you could put up your own tollbooth on it.

We must own the same targets.

I've used mine for Paper, Squirrels, 3 gun, and Someday Coyotes, my AR in .308 might just take a deer someday. Self defense.... just that one Zombie.

And you could buy a 10/22 for less than half of that. Different people like different guns.

I know at least two of my buddies had AR's with them durring the last LA riots, seemed rather a necessity at the time.

Needless to say, but a .223 would enter, hit a vital organ, and exit pulling a good portion of that vital organ out with it. Serious overkill, and I'd hate to answer to LE about something like that, even if it was legitimate self defense. It would bring AR's to the forefront of controversy again, which none of us need.

On the other hand, think about a SoCal quake of great magnitude. Economic fallout for weeks or months, anarchy in the streets, civilians (Zombies) ransacking and pillaging houses for food, water and supplies, no aid from LE, etc. In such an event, you'd better believe I'd be picking off anyone that appeared to be deranged or suspect that ran, walked, crawled or lurked within 50 meters of my home.

Unless that happens, the only time my M4 will see the light of day is at the range.

Socom good point. So given that scenario, does a tactical accessory with a 250% mark up only because it dons a logo become necessary?

My AR is a toy for the range. For home defense I have an XD 40 and a serrated machete which I have never had to use so far...so what does the OP suggest?, that I get rid of them because I haven't used them yet for home defense and because the manufacturers made money by selling them to me? Silly
Things are a lot more like they used to be than they are now...

I've got a 12 gauge and a Glock for that. The AR keeps the paper population at bay.

I'd say a riot is a legit need lol.My point is all the fanfare behind buying all the upgraded overpriced borderline irrelevant stuff. Is it really needed?

What kind of car do you drive? When you bought it, did you spring for any of the extras? Did you insist on there being A/C? Good speakers? Navi-system? Hell, all you need that car to do is get you from point A to B, right? You don't even really need a stereo, or a spare tire (there are all those call boxes on the highway for you to call for a tow). Why'd you waste your money on all those extras?

p.s. honestly I think you're trolling. good job.

I think it's kinda missing the point, unless you contend that humans are only supposed to get what they need. People buy something over something else for a host of reasons, and guns (ARs or otherwise) are no exception.

Did you like "brown bagging it" in elementary or did you really want the Transformers lunch box? Rhetorical, and not trying to be facetious...but I think the question is along the same lines...just a more expensive AWESOME!
