Not me because I would never trust my life with an AR... sorry AR lovers, but they're not durable and are untrustworthy for a tactical situation or SHTFComment

Does anyone remember the story a few years ago when a boy ran into a house. He was beaten and being pursued by a gang and the gang members demanded the homeowners send the boy back out to them or they would come in and get him?
When you've got 10...20 potentially armed gang members at your front door asking (telling) you to send some kid out to his death. My first reaction would have been to tell them I'm calling the police. But I could also imagine myself being happy to know I had an AR with a 30 round mag (featureless of course).

Hmmmmmmm. Wonder why this platform has worked for 50 years for our military then? You must know something they don't. Or do you?Comment

MY 9mm AR carbine is my go to weapon. It is robust, will not jam, much more accuarate than a pistol at close and extended ranges or under stress. I know it and have great confidence with it. Plus if I ever did have to shoot it, it won't nuke my ears like a 556. Realistically and hopefully, I don't think I will ever have to use it, but after many years of thinking "What if?" this is the one that makes the most sense for me for go to and TEOTW, only 16months awaySeriously missing the 80's.....Comment

well it all depends on the situation. Whats happening. IF you have NO time, obviously you would grab what you can while you can. If you have time to think about what to use, then go for it. In the heat of it, and you arent trained for these situations, im sure you will be shaking so hard that whatever moves will have bullets in it. No one wants to have to engage someone who is a threat, unless people or yourself are at risk of injury or death. And im SURE there are plenty of people on here who "train" for these scenarios and wish it would happen. (timing how long it would take to jump out of bed, grab the gun, and engage.) if someone really does break in, and you are 150% sure it is someone who is actually breaking in to steal/hurt someone, then dont get spotted, and go arm yourself. The majority of the time, im sure its the cat knocking over the lamp and breaking a glass and ending up with your pet staring down a bore of a high powered weapon. lets just hope that is the situation most of the time....Comment

This thread is hilarious. The original question was only answered like three times. Then it jumped into Mexican zombies taking jobs away from americans because the USA spent all it's money on tac't out ARs. About 10 years ago I escorted a stranger out of my kitchen who was drinking my orange juice! I lived downtown San Diego in a condo near Seaport Village, Street Scene was going on, and some drunk guy mistaked my condo for another, because all the townhomes looked the same. I woke up, heard a rukus in my kitchen, walked out there and saw dude in my refrigerator, walked back into my bedroom and chambered a round in my Beretta 391 shotgun, walked back out and aimed for his forehead and watched him leave. I typically left my front door unlocked in that gated community, but after that I changed my view on that. I did not own an AR at that time, but if I did, I would have for sure reached for that...... just for effect.Comment
