I've asked this on another thread long ago. The result of that thread was NO for a featureless build. The fact that it is a "grip" regardless of it being angled or vertical placed in the forward position means that it is a "forward grip" and hence considered an evil feature.

You guys can argue that all you want but after this there will be another thread on it again asking the same question in a couple of months.

If it is a NO for featureless build, then how about a AR pistol?

Pistol is different. Besides, your mag lock allows you to have all the evil features you want.

Seems to me it would be an odd combination if you used one in conjunction with a MM grip.

Less than a full grip with both hands.
I think I'll pass on that type of arrangement.

Whoa whoa... just to clarify, do NOT put a vertical grip on your AR pistol just because it has a maglock on it. Doing so would create an AOW. AFG's have been called not pistol grips for this purpose though, so AFG on AR pistol = Ok. Forward pistol grip on AR pistol = not ok.

^^ True, Federally. As far as state laws go, you would not break any by putting a FPG on a maglocked semi auto pistol.

Any update on this as far as legal verdict? I was thinking of getting an AFG on my Ruger Mini 14 and would hate if it made it so I have to have a bullet button due to it.

The real question is are you willing to pay to find out?

Given the fact that no pistol uses an AFG as its primary grip, I find it logically impossible to apply the definition of pistol grip to an AFG.

                  Who knows.

In my opinion, holding an AFG like a pistol grip makes it no more a pistol grip than holding two forks and calling them chopsticks because of the way their held.

Although its hard to argue its cosmetically a forward vertical grip remember when the DOJ said a sawed off pistol grip is still a pistol grip? The sense of logic imposed by the DOJ is so random at times that unless I had the money and time to spare to be a test case I wouldn't have one on my featureless build... Just sayin

This AFG in question was going to go on featureless FS2000. I got the Railed handguard for the front and wanted to mount the AFG on the bottom rail to have something comfortable to grasp other than the picatinny rail.

I guess it is best to not be a DOJ guinea pig and just not put it on. It's a shame because I think it would be perfect for a custom built California featureless FS2000
