K, I gave a shallow effort to look this up on my own, but, what is the difference between an auto bolt and standard. The BCM auto is 2x as much. Does it seem to matter for the average user? Oh and why?

To Bill. I didn't say CLP was $$$. The OP stated the range of prices he has seen on the BCG and I just take extra care of my stuff. Don't really care how you take care of yours.

what $$$ are you referring to in regards to maintaining a DI rifle?

there really isn't much to cleaning a DI rifle spray & wipe. What extra care is needed?

don't mean to thread jack, this ^^ x3.

Also, I want to say yes, but also want to make sure, when buying a new BCG for an Upper, we need to check headspacing with a go/no-go gauge, right?

The Auto BCG can be used in a bona fide full-auto AR whereas a normal commercial BCG would not work.

                    That is the simplest explanation.

I would also suggest sticking with quality parts, unless you want to buy a POS and have the lugs shear off because the metal wasn't up to standards.

You can get a complete BCM BCG for about $140, I think.

The bolts will be the same, the difference is in the bolt carrier.

An M16 (full-auto) carrier has a special tail section for engaging the sear.

An AR-15 (semi-auto) carrier will have a different tail section, some even have a "C" shape where the bottom is totally removed.

As I have read your posts in the past you do not own an AR but want to.

The simple explanation is you can use a BMC full auto BCG in a SA AR

                          1. We really need to define FUD here....

                          2. Uh, that's what he said.... Semi or Auto bolt in a Semi gun, but you could use an auto bolt in an auto gun.

If you're getting one of his stainless barrels, it is possible to order one with a headspaced bolt.

Buy your own parts to finish the rest of the bolt carrier group and you're done.

I've read that Spikes and BCM are from the same place, they just have a different logo etched. Pick the one that is in-stock or the logo you like best.
