Headspace is a non issue with AR's for starters. As long as its made from a reputable vendor, it will be fine.

I own full auto BCM BCGs and a Fail Zero BCG. I honestly feel like the BCM is a great quality product, I have had zero problems with em. I bought a fail zero just to try it out and so far it has performed admirably, but no better than the BCM did. I still lube the Fail Zero which I know is "not necessary" but its just too hard to give up old habits.
Long story short: BCM Bolt Carrier Group is great. I got the full auto because it was the same price as the SA. It is a bit heavier but not by much. The "best" handgun caliber debate rages on, meanwhile I just keep buying low recoil 00 buck.Comment

100-150 maybe 200 if it is needed to get something special. I see them for around 79.00 to over 250.00 and I dont really know what is the major difference. Should I match the brand to the upper like also getting a daniel defense bolt carrier group since my upper is daniel defense. Or should I get a Noveske bolt carrier group since I am probably getting a noveske barrel.
+1 Agree
1) The tail end isnt long enough to trip an autosear, so its a semi-auto BCG. Sometimes as another poster said the entire tail is missing.
2) Semiautos are sometimes not tested to the degree FA BCG are. This doesnt mean they are made different. The chance of a bad BCG are small due to manufacturing advances in the last 10 years. But on a FA BCG that chance is still outside of the Military requirements. Every FA BCG is tested one at a time. Semi-autos are tested in batches. 100 produced, 10 tested. If the 10 pass the other 90 are accepted as good. It is very rare to have 10 randomly picked test good and one or more in the remaining 90 to be bad...in fact its nearly impossible...but near and almost doesnt cut it with some folks. For me...I dont care, I dont fire full auto and I dont bumpfire.
3)High end coated can be on either SA or FA BCG. Chrome was once the rage with everyone, but when you use a chrome BCG you wear out the upper faster. You will only find Chrome BCG in Training Commands, Display and Show Commands. In the civilian world they are for match grade use, where 1000 shots a year is all the BCG is going to see or for that special cool look.
I would avoid Chrome if you plan on putting a few thousand down the pipe every month or so.
4)Most FA BCG are tested. BCM, Stag, Armalite, and Colt all sell both SA and FA BCGs. I dont know if the others sell both, most only sell one or the other.Comment

If I would get anything chrome, just get the bolt, not the carrier where the hardness wear factor is the issue. Really like most everyone here is saying, go with a known brand that is solid and tested MPI. Make sure the extractor springs are spec and etc. Most of the top brands noted here will do you very well.

If you are saying to spend more money on a BCG for a carbine, there is something positive there. A carbine does slam that BCG around, so an FA is best, but I use SA in carbine gas system without issue. A 14.5" barrel now you are seeing some serious timing issues, so a FA is better then a SA, slightly more weight and tested.Comment

Semi-autos for the most part are just not tested to the standard FA are.
