I see that manufacturers sell blems that they claim are in perfect operating condition but have cosmetic imperfections, so as long as it's from a reputable company should it be good to go? Spikes has a blem stripped uppers for $60, most other uppers are around $100, so are non blems worth the extra $$? This is my frist build and if I can saved $40 here and put it towards another part thats worth the full price I'd rather do that.

I've heard of people buying blems and really have a hard time finding the blemish. LAR has stripped upper blems for $48. CLICK HERE!Last edited by Don29palms; 11-28-2010, 9:41 AM.Using gun control to stop crime is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline!
You don't have to get permission to exercise a RIGHT. If you have to get permission or can be told no by the government it is no longer a right. IT IS A PRIVILEGE!

If you are anal retentive and only plan on looking at a gun from behind glass, I won't suggest a blem. But, if you plan on buying it to use as the tool that it is, why would you spend more for the priviledge of putting the first ding in it?NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

If you are building a safe queen or are super crazy about care for the rifle, then no. However if you are going to be USING the rifle, even if it is just bench shooting, then yes get one. All that matters are the parts are in spec. Scratches much like, other stuff is going to happen. Save some cash for ammo, and get one.

if you plan to shoot it yer going to knock it over or rub another firearm up against it at some point so who cares.. get the blem and enjoy..Boy the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the hit parade, guys like us we had it made, those were the days, and you know where you were then, girls were girls and men were men, mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again, didn't need no welfare states everybody pulled his weight, gee our old Lasalle ran great, those were the days!

Whenever they are available (they usually go quick) you should snap one up...Too many customers literally freak out if they even see a hairline mark in the finish anywhere on a firearm. They treat it like it's made of glass. Guess it depends on the person...Me? I'll buy as many blems as I can afford at the moment they're available

I got a blem Nodak A1 upper, the defect is just a teeny ding on the carry handle and was $30 cheaper. My lower is a blem too, which was a imperfection in the anodizing about the size of a grain of sand (on the rear near the buffer tube). I saved myself about $50 and put it towards some magazines.Comment

If you're on a budget, buy all means, buy the blems. Firearms are meant to be used and scratches are a normal part of using them. If you can save a few bucks on a "pre scratched" part, then go for it.ROGUE Specialty Products
