Just run a patch through the barrel to remove any packing oils and then go shoot it. Even Gale McMillan stated that break in proccedures were just gimicks.

Honestly man, it's an AR, just like the other guy said, strip the bolt down, clean it with whatever cleaning agent you use, then run some patches through the barrel, then shoot it! I lube the trigger group just a little bit as well. I don't really buy into the break in period stuff for ARs or AKs...

if it's a chrome line barrel then shoot the **** out of it and call it a day, if it's a longer percision barrel then I would to break in on it, after my .308 AR I am a firm believer in barrel break in's, I have photo's in my sig.

I do a break-in procedure for all my rifles. It makes me feel better about the barrel regardless it needs it or not.

Only break in your rifle if you like cleaning more than shooting. More rifles have be ruined by improper cleaning than too many rounds.

                  Agreed.

As for what break in process, get a good copper cleaner and get out all the copper every shot until you no longer see much copper build up. Could be a few shots, could be 20. Each barrel is different.

When I had Hart put a new barrel on my savage I ran 1 patch down the barrel and then procceded to fire about 200 rounds before cleaning the rifle again, I've since gone about 500 or so since then and have not patched it since. My groups are still tight as can be.

My AR, I clean the barrel when I first got it and thats it, easily a thousand rounds down range.
