      DDM4v3

my vote goes toward the DDM4v3. You get what you pay for. a buddy of mines bought a riffle through Atlantic firearms and its already falling apart. Its having problems as ftf/fte and we tried different mags so its not a mag problem. My other buddy who has a Noveske N4 which is very expensive but very nice goes bang every time you pull the trigger. you can also tell the Noveske has a better overall quality build over the Atlantic firearm. But your question is the DD or the spikes. I say DDM4v3 all the way. All the places I have look at are sold out online except aimsurplus.com which does not deal with Californians.

I have several Spikes lowers... and a Double star and Mega Machine shop lower. I can't say anything about there rifles but if their lowers are any indication, I would just say that the finish on them pales in comparison to Mega's and Double Star... but that being said I have two builds on Spike's lowers and they are in spec and work.

Honest opinion - it sounds like u really want the spikes so just buy it already and quit BSing. DD is better, that's why it's more expensive and that's why more people told u to get it.

It's not that! I'm sure a lot of guys go through this syndrome. It's not uncommon for someone to be a little confused when they're getting their first AR, first car, etc... These days, everyone is looking for a better "Value".

I realize the DD is the BMW of AR's. But sometimes if you can get a quality similar to that, and pay 1/3 the price - that is a better value. I'm simply trying to figure out what people say about Spikes, and the review posted above are that genuine... DD is gun overall, with bells & whistles. But with the review posted in post #19, Spikes is looking like a very close runner up - and in that case - is it wise to spend another $500 or not? That is the question.

I think the Spikes is a great gun. They are coming up in the world of ARs. If you want to save a little money now, nothing wrong at all with the Spikes rifle.

I think some people are just letting you know that in the end, you may want to upgrade your rifle and with the stuff that already comes on the DD rifle, you would end up spending more buying the parts later on. You might be able to find some deals, but more than likely it will cost you more.

If you want to get an AR on a budget, I think the Spikes is better than a Stag or CMMG. Butmif you think you will end up wanting a rail and some random accessories down the line, might as well pony ip the money now fr the DD and save yourself some cash in the process.

Just my $0.02. Hope that helped.

                  -Zack

Get your first one (whichever of the two). Then shoot it and learn more. After start building a new one based on what you've learned and to your liking.

The DD comes with a rail, VFG, and a case that adds at least $350 to the price. DD is also known to make high quality rifles. Spikes appears to be making great improvements in their products but not enough reviews to determine if they have lived up to their claims. It comes down to do you want the extras DD comes with and the peace of mind knowing you made a good choice or are you willing to take your chances on Spikes?

I'd go DD ANY DAY over a spikes tactical setup. They have top notch stuff and I just sold a DDM4 upper on a mega lower with a bunch of extras for $1500 loaded out with a nice trigger, CTR, AFG, XT rail covers, Sling, QD sling adapter, Flip-up BUIS, and a few other bits here and there so look out for a deal and you'll find what you're looking for.
