Plz Help: Daniel Defense OR Spikes Tactical (AR15)

    Hey gang,

I'm looking to buy my first AR. I am certainly not rich by any means, and am usually on budgets. But I've caught the AR bug for a while, and until I get one I can't rest.

Please help me decide which would be better, and Why? Daniel Defense is for $1300. Spikes Tactical is for $800. Manufacturing, quality, accuracy, long lasting, functionality, reliability are some of the factors that are also important, beside the PRICE!

    Link for DD - https://www.danieldefense.com/?page=...product_id=207

    Link for Spikes - http://www.spikestactical.com/z/inde...roducts_id=387

Main differences I noticed: DD is a Mid-length & has rail hand gaurds.
Spikes is Cabine-length & has standard hand gaurds. (Is DD worth EXTRA $500 ?? !!!!)

    Thanks.... in advance!

    P.S: Check out Post #19.

    DD over Spikes for sure.

The barrel, rail and extra little accessories makes the DD a much better buy in my eyes.

Both companies have great stuff. Build it the way you want it is all I can advise.

Spike's sells all great stuff including DD gear at competative prices!

Since you said you are on a budget spike's is better for you. Overall DD is better. They are a top tier brand. I heard a rumor that Spikes was partnering up with CMMG. I don't know how reliable that info is, but it was in a magazine. Cmmg is good, but on the lower end of the spectrum, so it could either be enhancing cmmg's overall quality or reducing spikes? It could also just be a bogus rumor as well. The DD has a CHF barrel which will last longer as well, but don't get me wrong that spikes deal is near impossible to beat and they make a great product as well. I've heard nothing but good things about them. You won't be disappointed in the spikes at all. Unless you are like me always looking for something better. To be frank and honest though YES the DD is worth the $500 more it's commanding. As I mentioned there is the CHF barrel, it is midlength which adds to reliability. DD is really stringent in their qc process, and it also has the $300 rail and $50 forward grip and the magpul stock and trigger guard. All are clear cut upgrades minus the forward grip which some people prefer to not have at all, but then you could always just sell that

DD, Mid-length gas sytem, $300 rail system, better stock, better finish. Buy a quality rifle and you will never be sorry.

Ask yourself... am I gonna upgrade my Spikes(?) A pimped up/out Spikes will cost me the same as the out-of-box DD. They both shoot pretty much the same. They both are great quality rifles.

Humm... I could sell the forward grip, and the railed hand gaurds, since they're usually around $300, to recover some back.... and could get standard hand-gaurds, or other railed gaurds (which are usually half the price of DD railed gaurds). .......something to think about ...

However, looking at the details and SPECS for Spikes, it looks pretty well done!!! I understand DD has a well-known rep, but Spikes is pretty-well known too, in terms of name recoginition... Now again, I'm confused!

Like I said..... performance wise you won't be disappointed in the spikes in the least bit. DD is just better. If it concerns you much, look into the ddxv. that will run you about $1100 and has the qualities of the ddm4v3 but in carbine length and without the rail, and foregrip. As to the other part of your question, you wont be able to just take off the handguard without having a vise, action block, armorer's wrench, the DD lite wrench, a replacement barrel nut/delta ring setup. So you would basically be spending about $100 just to remove that stuff
