FN FS2000 Question

Ok... So I wanted to buy a FN FS2000. It has a fixed magazine, however The rifle is only 29" overall and I thought in CA the limit was 30". If I were to add an extended muzzle break on the end to surpass the 30", is this ok if I just use the alan head screws that comes with the muzzle break? Or do I need to permenently attatch the break? Thanks.

Personally, I would find a way to extend the buttpad by an inch. That would be cheaper and easier.

+1 on the buttpad because you would have to perma attach the muzzle break

It has to be permanently attached in order to count for length.

FS2000 barrel is over 16". "No" need to "Permanently" attach anything to meet OAL length of 30". However, you must attach something to get it to 30" OAL.

You can even use a shoe string and tie a stick 1" past the barrel to meet 30" OAL.

I think people should do that just to show how some of the regulations lack common sense.

also buttpad is a bad idea, as it needs to flex to be removed to service the trigger pack

I stand corrected...I learn something new every day on this site. So your folding stock has to be pinned if the rifle is <30" folded, but your muzzle device can still be screw-on to meet 30". Who writes this crap?!

The CA DOJ will measure the rifle in the shortest configuration. A folding stock is meant to be opened and closed so it makes sense they would measure it folded. Both California and the federal government consider any barrel under 16'' to be NFA, if it is over 16'' you have dodged NFA, if it is under 16'' then and only then is it necessary to permanently attach a muzzle device to dodge NFA and bring it up to 16''.
