Yeah, and they're not very expensive either. They can be found for about $40.

      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

        I used these: https://www.plastixrevolution.net/co...15-vise-blocks

Sandwiching the upper receiver from the top and bottom gave a very secure way to mount and torque the barrel nut.

I teardown and rebuild AR uppers daily and I use a DPMS claw reciever block as my first step.
The DPMS claw has a support piece that goes all the way up into the charging handle slot to prevent the pivot and takedown pin holes from actually taking any torque.
If the barrel nut is on tighter than about 60ft-lbs, the block will start to flex and I stop before anything gets messed up.
For tighter barrel nuts, I go to a pair of aluminum blocks that set under and over the reciever and the reciever goes into my Kurt milling machine vise that's bolted to a 2600+lb milling machine.
I can loosen barrel nuts that take 200+ ft-lbs without any damage as the whole receiver is clamped squarely and solidly in the vise with the blocks.

I have a pile of cracked or bent receivers that I have replaced for people that mucked them up.

Which thankfully won't work on a 9mm barrel without lugs in the barrel because standard Giessele reaction rods mess up receivers while tightening or loosening barrel nuts.

RDB barrels have lugs for bolt locking. The super reaction rod also locks onto the upper receiver to minimize any load being put on the index pin.

OP is removing a standard blowback 9mm barrel so a reaction rod won't work for him.

You should recommend the super then and specifically warn people against using the standard one.
The standard reaction rod damages receivers when used for removing or installing tight barrel nuts.

OP states he is removing a Radial Delayed Blowback barrel. These barrels have locking lugs.

Well beans , I must have misunderstood your post. That new vism one that locks into the charging handle groove might be the ticket. It won't flex like the nylon ones do. Good luck !

Thanks. I have ordered the AR Stoner upper vice block set already from Midway USA, unfortunately, before I started this thread. So, I will see how that works out. Hopefully, I will not mangle my upper too badly.

As I stated in the OP I had already ordered the kit, but was having second thoughts:
