I like the Magpul Bev Block. I have assembled and disassembled many uppers with mine.

Does it have to fit into the barrel extension? The present 9mm barrel doesn’t have the usual splined AR15 extension.

Ive built and work on all my AR's with the first one you posted. I have one for AR15 and AR10 sizes and that is what MEGA Arms recommended for building their uppers.

Thanks. Do you need one for AR15 sized uppers and one for AR10 sized uppers, then? Or one can work on either?

One for each they are very different in size.

Ah ok I missed that part. Yeah you should use it with the barrel extension.

Clamshell works just fine. IMHO it's actually the best since it supports the entire thin-walled aluminum upper.

And although not on topic, don't use this for muzzle devices.

For those, get some 2x4 pieces, drill appropriately, and add powdered sugar.

The last part is key. I tried everything possible to keep barrel from spinning in the 2x4s, like gluing in bits of inner tube and stuff, and nothing worked. Read about powdered sugar as a non slip agent and it worked perfectly.

OP I looked at what a CMMG 9mm Banshee upper receiver looks like and it has the profile of a standard A4 receiver ( forward assist, shell deflector, picatinny rail) so that will fit in the clam shell you ordered. Some of the new billet uppers where their profile deviates from a std A2 or A4 don't fit in the clam shell. One caveat, the carry handle of an A2 upper helps prevent rotation in the clam shell for really tight nuts but your's is worth giving it a try.

I have both clam shell and bevbloc and prefer the bloc but it does require a std barrel extension. I found using a torque wrench and shims make the re-barrel much easier to get right without under or over torque.

This one:https://www.wheelertools.com/gunsmit...8.html#start=1 worked well for me. You can turn the upper upside down and use the rail as a clamping surface.

Geissele reaction rod or Midwest Ind URR both index off barrel lugs.

                              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
