The illumination is very nice and bright as well and I only need to bring it up to the highest, or second highest, on very sunny days. Sure, the battery life isn't all that good (~80h on max illumination), but a new battery ($4-ish) costs less than a full mag anyway and I always replace them before a match, so I've never had any issues with that either.
The Burris reticle is little too busy for me and I dont like the fact that the illumination isn't visible in daylight.
I agree with this. I haven't had hands on the new Accupoint, but share Gose's concerns.

For me, daytime illumination is a key consideration and the Meopta has that covered.

I might just give the K-Dot a try after giving it some more research and thought. Found one for a good deal and I'm sure it will hold it's value. Thank you all for pitching in.

I have a DMS...for what you pay, it's an incredible scope, $200 for a variable power illuminated scope is off the hook. The glass is decent and the reticle is very handy. The glass will not be as good as a $600-$800 scope but you have to ask yourself it that really matters to you and why. For shooting paper or dabbling in competition it's fine. If you're seriously into competition you'll probably start choosing your scope based on reticle preferences anyway.

Youre more than welcome to take a look at one of mine if you pass through the bay area.

Love my DMS. For 223 distances it works great. Only problem is the crappy caps, but I don't know anybody who does not replace any factory caps with butlers.

I purchased a Millet DMS a while ago.

Save your money and get either the K-Dot, new Accupoint 1-4 TR24, or the new Burris 1-4 XTR.

After looking into it, I am leaning towards the MK/T 1.5-5x20.

I dont really like the reticles on the K-Dot or the Accupoint. They seem to be more of a close range type reticle.

I like the Burris XTR in this size.
It has great glass and the illuminated BDC reticle works great.
Also works well as a point sight.

On a budget I'd go with the Millet DMS.

I like Horus Vision Talon 1-4x

First focal plane reticle with a good 4x for medium distant.

At 1x it is almost like a Eotech

The illuminated reticle is bright enough for sun light. The only complain I have is the battery only last for ~48hrs.

The Talon looks nice also. Price isn't too steep either.

I think I have made up my mind with the Leupold MR/T.

Now I just have to figure out if it's worth another 200 for the illuminated reticle...

I'll be up in Sunnyvale rod and gun saturday afternoon with my HK 416 and SB Short dot. I have to zero in my short dot and the PEQ-15 I just got if anyone wants to drop on by and play with my "piston"! =)

I'll probably bring my AI AW to play with as well which has the SB PMII 3-12x50 illuminated reticle scope.

I'm a Schmidt and Bender groupie if you can't tell! =)
