I believe he pulled the ad due to lack of interest (was last posted for $5399 with no takers) and posted it for sale on gunbroker.

Also, he was selling a standard Izhmash Dragunov Tigr, not the California Armory Tiger Dragunov.

It is definitely out of my price range. Really cool rifle though. I thought they were selling for a lot less. Why are the prices so high ? "California Armory Tiger" rifles are not like real SVD / Dragunov.
The "California Armory Tiger" Dragunov is priced higher than standard Izhmash Tigr Dragunov, because they were a special custom run of 1000 units but only 700 of them were imported into the USA.

The main visual difference between the California Armory Tiger and the standard Tigr Dragunov, was the California Armory Tiger had:
            1. Russian Military SVD vented polymer handguard.
            2. Russian Military SVD wood stock.
            3. Russian Military flash suppressor.
            4. Bayonet lug.

The Rock Island Auction Company is currently listing a 98% condition California Armory Tiger up for auction in their May 5-7 auction.

if someone made the whole thing (or even just the receiver and parts) in the US
they would have a waiting list even at < $2K for complete and of course would have to be in original 54R not 308

Indeed. There is little to no parts interchangeability to them.

Related to the topic, here's a video by Ian over at forgotten Weapons detailing some variations of the Dragonov design:

You forgot one small but significant difference. Theres an adjustablr gas tube, which is great for the harder hitting sniper rounds. The California model comes with it.

actually a California Armory Tiger does not come with an adjustable gas regulator. I have one. The gas regulator is numbered to the rifle and it is the same one the commercial standard Tiger comes with. The KBI imported SVD tigers were 100% military contract rifles with all military features.

So of the three common importers of Tigers, is there a more valuable one or are the all about the same?

                      1. Big Bear Arms of Dallas, Texas
                      2. B-West of Tucson, Arizona
                      3. Century Arms International of Saint Albans, Vermont

Whats the going rate for them right now

Free State prices are between $3000-$5000 depending on condition and accessories.

I paid 5400 for my CA Armory Tigr, low low number. 0006/1000 shot it once, and I love it.

                          Big difference tigr vs psl.

I shoot my PSLs way more then my tigr, only cause if I add up the PSLs it's still only half the price of the tigr. If I had to pick one though, tigr all day

So since the drag is a different action than the AK (PSL), what is the difference? I have looked for an explanation and have yet to find one.
