Looking at muzzle break/comps...

So after reviewing tons of these things it comes down to These 4 for a future featureless build. Would love to know feedback from anybody who has experience and/or runs any of these:


Daniel defense extended muzzle climb mitigator
Manticore arms nightbreak comp
ALG single chamber break
ALG sidewinder break

There are no ports facing directly upwards to allow for an uninterrupted sight picture when firing

This would have me a little worried about using it on a featureless. Most the time we talk about "Flash hiders" since thats the more common term but if you see the penal code they call it "Flash Suppressor". In the FSOR and the PC definition they talk about Flash Suppressors keeping the flash out of the shooters field of vision.

(b) "flash suppressor" means any device designed, intended, or that functions to perceptibly reduceor redirect muzzle flash from the shooter's field of vision.

Just my opinion that the statement would cause me to look elsewhere.
The thing is a lot of devices could "perceptibly reduce or redirect muzzle flash from the shooter's field of vision."... Its a BS poorly written law... But the law is what it is. And that device makes a claim very similar to that PC definition... Thats enough for me to look for a different device. I'm sure others will disagree.

Additionally the sb23 FSOR makes it clear that its not all about advertising language but also how the device is designed that can make a device a FS. IE an obvous flash hider that calls itself a brake could still be an illegal flash hider despite the name. Over and over it says things to the effect of this:

Any definition that includes or excludes devices based solely on what they are named, without consideration of whether the devices suppress flash, would exceed statutory authority. Muzzle brakes and compensators are flash suppressors if they reduce or redirect muzzle flash from the shooter's field of vision.

Inversely in Hunt v Lockyer we learn that a device that advertises Flash Suppression that immediately makes it a flash suppressor.
In Hunt v Lockyer the declaration of Iggy Chinn clarifies that they look at advertising language first, the devices design second and the actual performance of the device third.

Not on your list, but I recently installed the Lantac Dragon and my 16" carbine now has literally zero muzzle rise. Its awesome.

About 2x the price vs what's on your list though.

Very happy with them.
I was specifically looking for something small and light. The price is right too.

That's how I understood it. If the literal reading does not include the terms flash hider, flash suppressor or anything negating flash, it's a nogo. Not much in the description for that one.
