It may be that the sellers waif or girlfriend told them that they need to sell some of their toys. So the seller agrees to sell some of his guns as long as he can get what they are worth. Then he list his S&W M&P-15 Sport II for $1500. He really doesn't want to sell it, but if someone buys it he and his significant other will both be happy.
Do not relish to feel what the men that used these weapons felt when they saw the elephant. For the elephant has tusk and to see him is to have his tusk dig deep into your soul. You will always have a part of you that will be cold and empty.

While I understand where the OP is coming from, I also have to side with the, "if it's too, just don't buy" crowd.

The market is what it is. If people can get 1500 for a frankengun, more power to them. Then again, I'm not going to feel bad when those people finally realize that selling a garage mutt for 1500 most likely isn't a sound business model. That is, unless you're Century Arms International.

Agree. If I am buying a used rifle, I expect to save on tax and shipping as well as a discount. Why would I take a chance some mophead did something stupid to a gun (or a possible owner before him) only to save less than 10% on a brand new, in the box gun with warranty?

The AR market right now is still pretty depressed. Sure, if you want a decent AK or some boutique rifle you'll pay high bucks. But you can find ARs all day for under $700. Decent ones at that.

                  After July 1st? Panic

Now? Part panic part why not lol

Do you expect sellers to have to take a loss there also?

I just roll my eyes when people expect calgun sellers to sell them at the exact online non-Cal compliant no shipping to CA prices.
I would never pay full price for something where the provenance is unknown. If I am paying new or even close to the new price I am getting it brand new from the supplier not some unknown yahoo that might be feeding it his special hot handloads, etc before passing his mistakes on to me.

Do you know how hard it is to remove a barrel nut... Sometimes they are torqued to 80 LBS!!!! IF that ain't worth 250 I don't know what is...

I do factor compliance work in. Lots of shops have converted already. Thoughts that don't, I know where to get a good price

The Glock guys really crack me up and I love Glocks. Especially the ones selling Gen 4s like they are made of gold.

Or all the guys selling Rem 700 sps tacticals for 2-3 times what you can get them for new at any big box sporting goods chain. Hilarious.

Its fun to browse for the chance to see something unusual but you have to wade through a lot of dumb ads.
Turners has those Remington's for under $600 with rebate lol

If you want the gun that should have been used to kill Osama Bin Laden you've come to the right place. Every piece of every rifle has been tested with a single sub MOA 3 inch 3 shot group at 50 yards. Our bolts are nitrided, our barrels are melonited, our staking is impeccable, our 45 degree offset sights are zeroed (mostly) and our primary arms optics are battle proven at the 50 yard bench and never dropped on the carpet.

You have to pay for this much awesome; buy once cry once.
I have to admit that I have some over the top items but is funny. In the Marines we had crazy messed up no frills rifles and our lives depend on them. I was on an active naval ship last month and ther rifles all looked like ***. Meanwhile a lot of us have crazy expensive upgraded rifles and 99.99999% of us won't see any action with them.

Ordered from out of state, the transfer fee will be at least $30 more than you'd pay for a PPT and you'll spend at least $20 on shipping.

For something not readily available in California compliant form you'll spend at least $100 getting it to a middle man, converted, and shipped out.

That's $160-$330, hundreds more than what the price says.

Everybody likes to "win" buying so add another $100-$200 to the asking price to allow a 5-10% discount.

As a buyer, you'd end up in the same place with a private asking price of $250-$500 over selling price at the LGS or online.

If I sold my NIB CA compliant Tavor SAR for close to break even for upgrading to an X95 I'd aim for $2050 and start around $2200 - the $1800 a new in-stock California compliant model sells for out-of-state from a dealer that has it in stock, $250 in sales tax / shipping / interstate FFL, and $150 to negotiate back to what you'd total buying elsewhere.

Or try for more - with the election approaching, people will pay more like I'm doing to expedite getting new toys before it.
I bought one of the first ca legal X95s fully converted online for $1700. Meanwhile some calguns vendors are at $2200 + tax. I should of sold mine right away and made $500!
