Why rifles so over priced?

Iv been scanning the market here for a couple rifles I'm interested and I keep coming across the same thing.

I keep seeing USED rifles being offered for hundreds of dollars more than the same rifle new. I could somewhat understand if it was a scarce rifle but many are easily found in stock online or at local gun stores for much less.

Do people not look this stuff up before posting or buying? Kinda makes checking the market a big wast of time.

Everyone starts high and meets the buyer somewhere in the middle. Free market will dictate pricing. Things can go much higher in November if Hillary wins.

If the upgrades are something you want it can often be a good package, such as a solid AR with a good optic or surefire

People are stupid enough to pay over new retail for a used item. That's all there is to it.

I've spent the last 11 years selling motorcycles parts on Ebay for my work. I'm amazed at what people will pay at times.

Because they think they're doing you a favor. The market place has been a joke for awhile now. There are still deals to be had, but they are pretty far and few in between.

Make sure you factor in compliance work, tax, and other fees when you see those online prices.

All it takes is money and time. Many of us have the former. None of us have the latter with new laws being imposed. If u want to hunt down some rare exotic rifles on your own time starting now, do you really think they'll be cheaper if/when u do find them? Strike while the iron is hot.

Let me guess.
The guy that's been trying to sell the same two tired a** rifles for the past two years at double their value.

1) there are sellers that believe/want you to believe their accessory/upgrade purchases are good investments and expect to get their money back and more for these additions to their rifles.
2) guys under duress that promise their wife/girlfriend that some of the firearms will go and prove their effort with MARKETPLACE offerings sporting prices that reach for the sky.
3) some sellers list a high price in a wts post while informing prospective buyers that a trade is preferred. high price/inflated value of a seller's item is sometimes given to discourage a sale while encouraging optimal trade offers.
