    Primary arms is g2g.

I prefer to buy the best glass I can afford. But if I was on a budget, primary arms would be my go to.

"Just like a shotgun spreads buckshot all over the entire wall, don't even worry about aiming or target ID "

Wrong... At 30 feet or less, 5.56 does not spread like buck shot. Anybody holding a rifle with a 16 inch barrel will hit center mass, without any sites, when shooting a threat from less than 10 yards away.

I agree with your advice, and plan on using it, however, I've grown up shooting mini-14s, Shotguns, and handguns, so I'm pretty confident in my ability with iron sights. I'm just new to AR-15s and any kind of optics.

Spend 200 dollars or less on a cheap red dot. Spend the other 200 on ammo and go to the range. Putting rounds down range is the most important part.

Vortex Sparc ||. Awesome red dot. Had it on my AR and now sits on my Kriss.

I would consider a 1x4 or 1x6 with a lit reticle/dot. You'd be able to use it for home defense on low zoom, at the same time if you want to take it pass 2-300 yards you have the higher magnification. A little bulkier and you're limited to parallax but you're not handicapped in the distance. Yes people have taken their 1x red dots (even irons) out to 200yrds with practice but it'd be much easier and quicker with a little bit of help with some magnification. Just my opinion

You could get a burris ar332 and send in for a free fast fire 3. Just throwing it out there.

There's a Burris AR332 in the marketplace now for $300 in San Diego.

OP: I think it boils down to personal preference. Everything I get from Vortex is rock solid, although I don't have the Strikefire. I have 2 of their 1-6 powered scopes. However, they are too big, cumbersome and difficult for home defense, in my opinion.

I'd get one that has long battery life, 50,000 hours? and leave it on all the time, even when it is in the safe.

TRS25 is a great starting point. If you get one and decide you want to spend more on something else, you can sell it for close to what you paid for it, assuming that you didn't overpay in the first place.

For duty, HD, or SHTF a Aimpoint Pro is the best hands down. If you are going to carry the rifle for long distances, still want to meet/exceed a Pro, or you want a light weight build, save a little more buy a H2 new or used.

I don't either, just in terms of language. At what did people start using the verb "fail" as a noun?? I see it everywhere now. It seems... unintelligent. The noun form is "failure". Sorry, but as a writer this really annoys me.

Id recommend looking at The Bushnell BtR 1 best of both worlds. Red dot and 1x4 magnification. One of my favorites on a budget.
