Hey op, I took my butter weights out and my standard buffer now weighs 0.93 ounces. Just something you might consider

Right, so you simply punch out the roll pin and take out the weights. Then you have a super light buffer which will save you about .3 ounces

Yea faxon called back and thinks they might've sent a different profile barrel.. They look identical to me.. Offered to pay for return shipping and send out a new one.

Mine may be lighter.. I have a feeling my weight scale ha been registering slightly heavier weights than it should.. I need to borrow someone else's scale or weight something with a known weight..

As for the grease.. Il try that stuff if my frog lube is bad.... I've got a bunch of it so I might as well try it

Does it look like this one?

Barrels made by Faxon Firearms are the pinnacle of value. This 14.5 inch 5.56 NATO barrel is made from 4150 CMV and given a nitride finish.

Says 1.2 lb.... and that = 19.2 oz

Looks like they sent him a gunner barrel instead of a pencil barrel.

                    That's what they said too...

No big deal... Got my gun weighed on a highly calibrated scale

Final weight 5 pounds .9 ounces
                    80.9 ounces

You should read my posts... Yea I could throw money at it to get the lightest possible, however I would end up with a firearm that I didn't even like.

I can't imagine anyone spending money on a firearm that they didn't like the look of when it was done.

I also didn't find it necessary to save a pound or so and spend upwards of $2500

I also wanted all metal construction with the exception of the stock and grip. No carbon fiber, no plastic.

I also wanted a top rail.. No round tube style hand guards..

And I didn't want to spend a lot of money...

I'd say I got everything I wanted and a great rifle at just about 5 pounds total

the firearm is back at the cerakote shop.. I'm having him make a few minor adjustments... he was never supposed to do the buffer tube grey and was supposed to keep it black so we are getting that redone in armor black...

also the stock is missing some red accents.. so I'm having him do the button on the stock in red..

hopefully that makes it look a bit better.. also getting a titanium castle nut and end cap for more of a balanced color scheme
