Just FYI we have seen folks printing these based on our Creative Commons released designs and claiming to be Exile Machine product. Selling on eBay and in the private sales forums etc. Those are not our product and we do not provide support for such.

These sellers are not using the proper material for the spring and probably not for the main body of the product either. We get customer calls all the time complaining about shattered springs, and when we ask for the order number, turns out they didn't buy our product. Shattered springs do not happen with the nylon spring used in the genuine Exile Machine product which you can get on Amazon.com at this link:

I don't think anyone doesn't think it is affective (effective). The issue is we keep on licking our masters boots and think we're showing them

No updates but we're working on it. It will not simply be an injection molded version of the existing 3D printed product, but something much greater, and that's all we'll be saying about that.

              Hey Exile Machine,
Any updates on this "much greater?"
              thanks

Top View -- Fatter and Longer Integral Thumbshelf plus Fatter more curvy grip surface allows more space for the heel of your trigger hand and helps retain Positive Weapon Control. (Magpul MIAD v1.1 grip shown --not included.)

Rear view showing indented fin and Fatter backstrap.

Like the original Backfin, BackfinFAT is manufactured in the Free USA via 3D printing from a high temperature polyester material. First production run is in Amazon's hands and will be available for sale on that site as soon as their robotic workforce finishes processing the shipment. MSRP is $24.99.

Looks phat! :-) Any plans for a 308 model? The grip component I had to replace with my Backfin is exactly what makes the MIAD Type 2 a 308 grip.

What about a fin grip with a thump loop or overarching curve rather than just a shelf?

Like the regular Backfin, this product fits either AR-15 or .308. The photo of the rifle in our previous post is of a .308.

Unfortunately a loop is not possible with the current material state of the art for the price point that would make business sense. The good news is that 3D printer material science advances by leaps and bounds weekly. We're constantly gumming up our 3D printers with evaluating new materials. When we find one that will support the tension forces encountered in loops we'll bring such a product to market.

Yes of course we have these in lefties. The initial load for Amazon was RH units but the LH shipment is not far behind.

Well I'm sure you've thought this out and have struck the best balance you could find, but the receiver does stick back into my hand more than it would if this were a 5.56 wearing the same grip, so I was just assuming/hoping you'd eventually design a model with a thicker backstrap. Maybe that's just me. Here's proof you make lefties anyway, thanks for that:

I haven't bought one of these for a while but wondering if they are shipping with Exile Machine stickers again?

Amazon yanked the listing for the RH Backfin this morning, just as they have done with the Hammerhead in the past. We suspect anti-gun agitators are at work behind the scenes.

We need an outpouring of positive reviews to counter the attack and keep this product on Amazon.com. If you bought a RH Backfin and like it, please click here to give this product a 5-star review:

If you bought it and didn't like it, please email support@exilemachine.com and let us know why so we can roll your suggestions for improvement into future iterations of the product.
