And don't worry about the kick. My wife isn't a princess wife, she'll be able to handle the kick.
only want to put maybe standard stuff on it like a bipod and a scope.
700-800 including scope/bipod or just for the rifle?

For .308, if you love your wife, you will need to save up and get her a green Accuracy International. I'd not settle for anything less, but I am not your wife.

What is the intended purpose of the rifle? Hunting? Range toy?

Savage will always have what you want.....and you won't have to worry about a trigger recall.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

              RUGER Ranch in 300BLK

Ammo is wallet friendly. Not much kick! Powerful enough to take deer and pigs.

Nikon makes a 300Blk 2-7 Scope that would be perfect fit!

It is a new design of which I do not believe Ruger did on their own, the stock is just a POS in every aspect and well it's an entry level rifle at only $100 less then a good rifle from another manufacturer. I have looked at an shot almost all of the entry levels and the Ruger and the Remington are the worst of the bunch. I like Ruger products but this is not one of them. Of course this is my opinion and everybody has one I just value mine more.

Rem 770, Ruger American, Savage Axis and probaby some others I'm forgetting are package guns that are bottom of the market for a reason and reviled by most serious shooters for the same reason. They're meant for the poor and ignorant people of the world to buy so they think they pulled a ready to go deer rifle out of a box. They didn't.

Most any of the rifles that have been around are great. The VangardII is excellent and on the cheaper end. I think .243 is probably the smartest and will handle most of the game in N. America short of Elk. Can't go wrong with .308 though.

Still don't know what he/she will use it for. I don't see how anyone can make a recommendation.
